Every year we are reminded of the 16 days of activism against the abuse of women and children, but we don’t actively get involved. This year is different because on the 2nd of December we’ll be joining Edgars by ‘turning the world ORANGE’ and participating in the Edgars UNiTE Orange Run.

“The colour orange radiates warmth and is associated with joy and sunshine – psychologically it rejuvenates one’s spirits and offers emotional strength, helping one bounce back from disappointments and despair, assisting in recovery.”

This colour signifies that the women and children who are affected by violence are not victims, but victors. They have the ability to stand up, and walk away because there is hope and there is help. Over the years Edgars has been empowering woman and now you can show your support by actively taking part. Gender-based violence is not going to disappear overnight. We need to take to the streets of Sandton and to social media and show that as a society, we will not stand for this injustice.

Wear anything orange, from your shoelaces, sweatbands, wigs and more. The bigger and bolder, the better. Use #BreakTheSilence when tweeting and join us as we celebrate the strength of these women and make a difference in their lives.
