Going to the gym is already challenging enough especially after you’ve left your New Years resolution behind with Valentines day, but to make it worse, our blankets are so warm this winter and getting out of bed is already difficult enough. If you’re not too sure about how to get up and get going? Well, here are four tips to help you before Spring arrives.
1. Remember why you started
If you’ve started once before, it means that you have reason enough to keep on going. We all have goals we want to achieve and a certain size that we’d like to get to, so remember where your journey started, that will keep you going. Monitor your progress to keep you on track. Do it as often as you need to. Record it digitally or write it down if that works best for you.
2. Set out your gym clothes
Keep reminding yourself to go. Pack your gym bag, keep it in the boot of your car, or by the front door so that you don’t ‘forget’ to take it with you in the morning. If you need more motivation, get some new shoes! If you like looking good, don’t let the gym be an exception. It’s always in-season to get new gym clothes.
3. Set personal goals
We’re all different and we want different results, so set realistic goals for yourself. Try on that shirt that doesn’t fit so nicely anymore, so that you know how much you should lose in order to look great in it again. Another motivation is to buy a pair of pants that you’ve always wanted. To make sure that you don’t ‘outgrow’ them too fast, sign up to a gym and remember that your health and your ego will benefit from the new you.
4. Keep focused
Don’t get distracted. Listen to music or an audio book. If you’re the type of person who loves motivational speeches or even break-up music then this will definitely work for you. Pop in those earphones, turn up the volume and get ready to run, that dream body is in sight.
