Flip Flop day is an annual fundraising event held to raise much-needed funds for NPO, CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation.
Leading up to Flip Flop day, the public can buy a sticker and wear their flip flops for the entire day on 12 February 2021. Put on the flip flops no matter where you are, in the office, at home, or in the classroom. Join in the fun and support children and teens fighting cancer for only R10.
Two-thirds of children in South-Africa with cancer never get as far as an oncology centre. The majority of those presenting with this dreaded disease, are in the advanced stages of the illness. If detected early, most children are treated successfully.
CHOC provides comprehensive support programmes to patients and their families. They are active nationwide advocating, educating and collaborating with stakeholders to save children’s lives.
“We are so excited for our 2nd Flip Flop Day,” declares Taryn Seegers, Communication Coordinator of CHOC. “Flip Flops are such a wardrobe staple for most South Africans, and who isn’t looking for an excuse to wear them? Flip Flop Day is an opportunity to highlight the importance of the work that CHOC does in a light-hearted way. As well as raise some money to keep our young South African patients and their families supported through the challenging journey that they face.’
She continues.“ A whopping R1,5 Million was raised in 2020, with R330 000 of that coming from PNA alone. This assisted our efforts enormously, and we are convinced that this year will be even more successful.”
Lockdown and country wide shutdowns have not stopped children being diagnosed.
Purchase your ticket for a small donation of R10. Show your soul with your sole and flip your shoes for your flops on 12 February 2021. Stickers are available at all PNA and Tekkie Town stores.
