This year we are celebrating the 10th year of the kykNET Fiëstas. This event is an initiative to pay tribute to the best work of the past festival year. Productions that made their debut at the six biggest Afrikaans art festivals – US Woordfees, KKNK, Suidoosterfees, Innibos, Vrystaat Kunstefees and Aardklop – are eligible for these awards.
The master of ceremonies for the 10th kykNET Fiëstas is the well-known actor and comedian, Casper de Vries, which will entertain the audience with his sense of humor. He also has a few surprises up his sleeve.
Casper will be supported by guest presenters, Dean John Smith, June van Merch and Success Lekaba. The guest artists include some of South Africa’s biggest icons – Amanda Strydom, Emma van Heyn, Germandt Geldenhuys, Ilse Klink and Nataniël. There will also be performances by opera singer, Nombulelo Yene, Eet kreef! (Laudo Liebenberg, Frank Freeman, Mikhaela Kruger, Schalk van der Merwe and Sheldon Yoko), comedian Ian Young, the Cape Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the Cape Town Opera Chorus and the New World Dance Theatre.
The kykNET Fiëstas also pay tribute to various legends for their lifelong contribution to the theatre and entertainment industry. It’s a great privilege to honor the following people at the 10th kykNET Fiëstas:
