The best part of any dining experience is making your next booking. Now, two weeks after visiting Truffles on the Park, in Sandton, thinking about the entire experience reawakens the craving to go back.
Describing Truffles on the Park as “a world-class park bistro & botanical bar, that serves delicious fresh healthy food & creative beverages…” is only scratching the surface. Its unconventional location give us a break from malls and parking lots. And when you walk into the restaurant you’re greeted by its warm, up-market feel.
Sit down and order a cocktail. Try the Hibiscus Orchid, a mixture of Tanqueray No. 10 and Hibiscus tonic & lime juice with Hibiscus flowers that add to the depth of the taste. It is served in a tea pot, making it easy sipping as well as visually appealing.
If you’re lucky enough to book and choose to start your experience off with the mint, pea and salmon soup of the day, you’ll be hooked at first bite. The rich, flavourful soup is well balanced by the sweetness of the fresh peas. It’s accompanied by a side of freshly baked bread and parmesan butter and honestly, it cannot
be done justice by the written word.
When you get stuck choosing a main, opt for the Braised Lamb Shoulder served with minted peas, lamb jus and vanilla fondant potatoes that will change the way you experience potatoes forever! There is such character in the space and on the plate that it’s difficult not to have favourites.
There are so many drink options and you will be intrigued by the botanicals on offer. The chef clearly has the taste to experiment, and create refreshing and addictive combinations, making the dining experience feel like more than just ‘eating out’.
Dessert is an absolute delight with a trio of treats presented on a plate. The créme brulé was decadent, the cheese cake and the brownie are any sweet-toothed persons delight. After a wonderful evening at Truffles on the Park, you still feel like sitting a little longer. Not surprising that making the next booking is going to be very easy.
