Heliocare launches a paediatric SPF, and it’s music to the ears of every mom. If like me, you have yet to find the perfect sunscreen for your littlies, this post will have you excited for days.

Whether it’s a day at the beach or hours at the bike park, lazing next to the pool at home, or time spent in the sandpit, sun exposure for your little person is extremely risky.

Protecting children from the sun is essential as cumulative exposure increases skin cancer risk and aging later in life.  Studies have shown that there is a higher incidence of cancer melanoma as a result of childhood sunburn.   There is also a suggestion that melanoma is on the rise in adolescents and even young children.

What do the experts say?

Parents and caregivers should be championing sun protection.  Dr. Webster from Dermastore had the following to say: ‘Babies and children have 30% thinner skin than adults. They have a lower concentration of melanin, and their skins are dry and dehydrated during the early months of their lives. They also have an incomplete skin barrier making them very vulnerable to sun exposure. For children of 6 months and older, current guidelines recommend a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher. Ideally, it should contain physical filters such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which causes less irritation to sensitive skin.’

What makes Heliocare different?

Heliocare 360° Pediatrics range meets the highest photoprotection standards. Thanks to Fernblock®+, specific filters and repairing and active antioxidant ingredients protect against the four types of radiation (UVB, UVA, Visible and Infrared). Neutralizes and repairs sun damage. It was tested under pediatric, dermatological, and ophthalmological control.

There are three products in the new pediatric range:
