The luxury sneaker market, and brands in general keep on growing and as time goes by we see new brands emerge and sometimes also fade away. SIGA (Step Into Greatness Already), a South African company founded by Nondumiso Mabaso, is a brand that I believe is here to stay. Having also made an appearance at Milan Fashion Week this year, it’s clear that they mean business.
Their shoes are designed in South Africa but are hand made in Italy, to ensure that you get only the best. Nothing from SIGA is mass produced, everything has been put together with purpose and made with love and care.
The pair of shoes that I managed to get my hands on is the SIGA Sporty Tennis. The shoe features a full leather upper which includes the leather tongue (which is really great). The sole is cup sole which is both stitched and glued onto the shoe for extra durability. Comfort is also very interesting as the shoe gets softer over time in the areas of your foot where the most pressure is placed. Another interesting part about the brand is each different models of shoes comes with a completely different box. If you are unsure about sizing, I would recommend going half a size down as they run a bit long. What is very nice about that, is that the shoes come in half sizes so you really can get the best fit for yourself.
Overall this is a brand to keep an eye on as their quality is on the same level as other luxury brands. Their pricing is also good and they are local, local is always lekker. So the next time you are looking for a pair of luxury sneakers, look no further than SIGA sneakers.
