Ever Walked into a room and all you hear is the sound of heavens’ gates opening up like “haaaaaaaahhh!!!”? Well, maybe that’s a bit much, but the feeling you get when you walk into of Pierre Jourdan, the home of Haute Cabriere is definitely something special.
After a scenic drive through the winelands, we looked around for a minute to take in the beauty of Franschhoek before we experienced everything this wine farm has to offer, and we didn’t hold back!
Upon arrival, you get greeted by the friendly host who will then direct you to either the tasting room or restaurant. The tasting was our first order of the day, so that’s where we went. This is when things got really interesting… We walked into this dungeon-like cellar with soft and modern décor, I was living!
We went with the Cellar Master’s Selection, which included a great variety of the Haute Cabriere Wines. The journey took us from white to pink to red, then on a trip to the stars with a glass of bubbles that simply sparkled. I was definitely in my element.
With an experience like this to start with, I was so ready to see what their restaurant would be like. And Goddamn! Stunning and endless views of farmlands, vineyards, and mountains all around you. And contrary to the celar, the restaurant was clean and crisp, minimalist yet still well put together. This is the perfect setting for Instastories.
Our host seated us, brought us complimentary bread and sparkling water, and showed us the menu. I saw the Charcoal-grilled sirloin steak, red wine & bone marrow jus, roasted potatoes, fried courgettes, buttered onion rings, and thought ‘this sound fancy, I’m having it’, and It looked delicious.
The steak was cooked to perfection and the combination of flavours was all the life I needed! Every mouthful kept me wanting more. And there was more … DESSERT. The Cold bread & butter pudding with sourdough & apricot ice cream is the furthest thing from basic and rounded the experience up perfectly.
All in all, in today’s segment of The First Experience List, Haute Cabriere definitely gave me LIFE, so do yourself a solid, and give Haute Cabriere a visit for an experience worth writing about!
