Africa Fashion International (AFI) today announced the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 as the Digital Partner to Joburg Fashion Week 2023. This strategic collaboration will encompass the seamless integration of the Fashion Forward HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 into the core elements of the Joburg Fashion Week program.

Launched in September 2023, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 is making waves as a fashion-forward smartwatch. This sleek and cutting-edge timepiece embodies the fusion of style and technology, making it the perfect choice for an event that celebrates the fusion of these industries.

Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, the Founder and Executive Chair of Africa Fashion International, shared her enthusiasm about this collaboration, saying: “AFI has embraced the application of technology to elevate Africa’s Fashion to a global stage. This collaboration with HUAWEI, a technology company that shares our spirit for innovation and excellence, is a perfect fit. We look forward to showcasing the creative possibilities that arise from this synergy between fashion and technology.”

Explaining what Fashion Forward means to HUAWEI, Mr Akhram Mohamed, Vice President – Operations, HUAWEI Consumer Business Group South Africa, said “The latest generation of the WATCH GT flagship series introduces elevated design features with powerful health and fitness functionalities. The smartwatch is also part of HUAWEI’S new ‘Fashion-Forward’ proposition for its wearable technology, taking technology and fashion integration to the next level and empowering users to personalise their health and sports journey, without compromising style. Not only can users enjoy all the features of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 Series, but also enjoy its fashionable aesthetics”.

“We are delighted to partner with AFI at Joburg Fashion Week. It provides us with the perfect platform to showcase how the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 turns technology into wearable art, proving that form can meet fashion, and elegance, fitness, and style can share the same stage (or catwalk),” adds Akhram.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 will take the spotlight as the main sponsor of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 AFI Prive’ Collective show during Joburg Fashion Week on Saturday, November 11, 2023. This show will include a special presentation by AFI’s in-house private label, AFI Privé, whereby the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 will be seamlessly incorporated into the collection, marking the triumphant return of the AFI Privé brand.

Additionally, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 will contribute to the AFI Masterclass which will delve into ways of “Unlocking the Economic Potential of Circular Fashion in Africa.” This AFI Masterclass will critically explore sustainable fashion practices and their applicability in the African context, which will also aid in demonstrating AFI’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability.

Fashion and tech enthusiasts can expect a fresh perspective to Joburg Fashion Week, with the partnership adding a touch of tech innovation and sophistication to the runway.

THE BAXTER THEATRE PRESENTS: AUNTY MERLE THINGS GET REAL!

THE BAXTER THEATRE CENTRE PROUDLY PRESENTS MARC LOTTERING'S NEW MUSICAL COMEDY 'AUNTY MERLE THINGS GET REAL'.

Following the award-winning success of the hit musical comedy, Aunty Merle It’s a Girl, comedic legend Marc Lottering returns to the stage with his brand-new offering, Aunty Merle Things Get Real at the Baxter Pam Golding Theatre from 29 November 2022 to 21 January 2023 at 7:30 nightly with Saturday matinees.

It’s been two long years and Merle Abrahams from Belgravia Road has since survived Covid-19 and lockdown restrictions, and is just about finding her way through the darkness of loadshedding. This time around however, things are about to get very real as Dennis, her loving husband, has been found to be keeping a secret from her. One which has affected his heart and is about to turn Merle’s world upside down.

“I wrote this one at a time when the world seems to have gone mad. I could not avoid having much of that chaos reflected in the story. The challenge has been to remain truthful in this regard, but to still ensure that there’s laughter”, notes Marc Lottering.

Directed by award-winning Director, and Baxter CEO Lara Foot, the star-studded cast includes Royston Stoffels, Loukmaan Adams, Carmen Maarman, Jawaahier Petersen, Tankiso Mamabolo, Madeegha Anders, Anzio September, Crystal Finck and Shaun Oelf.

With choreography by co-founder of Figure of 8 Dance Collective, Grant van Ster, the cast is accompanied by a six-piece band, led by musical director Trevino Isaacs.
