Birkenstock Gives Its Boston A New Take

BIRKENSTOCK introduces the Boston EVA clog in a lightweight,
shock-absorbing, water-resistant material. First presented in 1979, the Boston expanded BIRKENSTOCK’s already popular collections with a closed toe shoe that offers all the comfort and health benefits of its sandals.

Now BIRKENSTOCK has expanded its Boston family with an all-EVA style that offers the same comfort, durability and versatility of the classic leather and cork clog, but with the benefit of being perfect for the beach, pool and gym.

Using the same design principles and approach to material sourcing that have given BIRKENSTOCK its iconic status, the Boston EVA transforms the brand’s most popular silhouette with a summer ready spin. This new take on the Boston is easy to slip on, durable and full of personality for those that value individuality and self-expression.

SLIP IN. TURN ON. TUNE OUT.

For the Boston EVA campaign BIRKENSTOCK invited three Cape Town artists to take us along on their creative journey. The campaign, shot in South Africa, follows singer-songwriter Nalu, producer Insertcoinz and painter Naledi.

Nalu, Coinz and Naledi are connected by a creative network that reaches from
Cape Town to Johannesburg. They also prioritise all-day comfort and refuse to compromise on style. The campaign encourages South Africans to “Slip In, Turn On and Tune Out” in the BIRKENSTOCK Boston EVA.

Naledi Dupi, a multi-dimensional visual artist from Cape Town, has developed a powerful and distinctive style of portraiture. ‘I think I’m all about expressing myself in a way that’s truly unique,’ Naledi says.

Producer Insertcoinz, is a South African creative dabbling in music composition, DJing, photography, record label owner (Space Sounds Records) and he is the co-founder of the collective and streetwear label BROKE. His inspiration comes from the roads he cycles daily around Cape Town.

Nalu Titu is a rising South African musician and model. She is a multi-talented artist who continues to make her mark in the music and fashion industries. Her unique style and powerful voice have earned her a dedicated following.

The campaign features a track entitled “Walk a Mile” written, composed and performed by Nalu and Insertcoinz – with bespoke artwork by Naledi – exclusively produced for BIRKENSTOCK.

BIRKENSTOCK continues to produce the highest quality products with a comfort first approach, but never misses a beat when it comes to making a style statement.

Immediately comfortable right out of the box, the Boston EVA (R1699) transports wearers from the street to the beach, in khaki, navy, and sky blue. A playful, popcorn hue will be added to the collection in October.  The BIRKENSTOCK Boston EVA available in select BIRKENSTOCK stores and online at www.bashafrica.com.
