Celebrate Mom at Time Square this Mother’s Day

Sunday, 11 May 2025 is Mother’s Day and what better way to treat her than a lavish buffet lunch at Time Square’ Appetite restaurant?

Appetite’s menu combines traditional flavours and modern cooking techniques, with a dash of creativity and cupfuls of quality. “Our menu shows our commitment innovation but pays homage to traditional flavours beloved by South Africans, using the finest local and seasonal ingredients,” says Time Square’s executive chef, and Sun International group executive chef, Adrian Vaughan.

Following a drink on arrival and small gift for all the moms, the sumptuous buffet begins with a salad bar – assorted raw and pickled vegetables, grilled antipasto, marinated olives, roasted red pepper dip, and buttermilk ranch dressing; a bakers’ board with quiches, arancini, mini pizza, bruschetta; and a variety of sushi, sashimi and cured salmon.

Also, in this section will be roasted beetroot and goat’s cheese, herb and lemon tabbouleh, smokey chorizo and potato salad, succotash, caprese salad, and a mezze board with dips and pickled olives.

The main event will include a feast of slow roasted lamb shoulder with garlic and herb rub, chermoula sea bass with olives and preserved lemon, Thai red beef curry with coconut and coriander, roast pork loin with pancetta and sage, chargrilled sirloin steak with sauce Diane, chicken cacciatore and Thai vegetable curry. For sides there will be coconut rice with toasted almonds, honey roasted root vegetables, Greek lemon potatoes and a cauliflower and broccoli bake.

With all these delectable choices it might be hard to save space for dessert, but finishing on a sweet note will be perfection. Dish up millionaire brownies with cherry gel, crème brûlée, passion fruit and raspberry choux buns, strawberry cheesecake, pistachio noisette and self-sauce chocolate pudding with crème anglaise.

All this at a very affordable R395 per person, so get Mom some pretty flowers too.
