The Cradle Boutique Hotel is playing host to a celebration of Cederberg Shiraz this month with a not-to-be-missed wine pairing lunch introduced by renowned Cederberg winemaker David Nieuwoudt.

The hotel’s Chef Tyrow Powers has devised a special menu for the occasion while those attending also have the option of going on a game drive after lunch to learn about the fauna, flora and incredible history which surrounds the visitor to this exclusive location.

Cradle Boutique Hotel – situated within 9 000 hectares of spectacular nature reserve just outside of Johannesburg – is a unique ecotourism destination and the only hotel in the world situated on an active paleoanthropological site. It is situated in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind which was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1999.

In keeping with its cradle to table philosophy, Cradle Boutique Hotel and its onsite restaurant source most of their fresh produce locally. Visitors will feel the rhythm of life in this special place as they are taken on a journey into an ancient landscape, making unforgettable memories on the way.

The lunch takes place at The Pavilion at The Cradle from 11h00 on Sunday, August 21, with the following menu:

Goat’s cheese panna cotta with beetroot pearls
Cederberg Merlot-Shiraz 2020

Marinated cherry tomatoes, burrata, basil pesto with crispy basil leaves and toasted sourdough
Cederberg Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Coffee-rubbed beef fillet, grilled biltong mealie pap & butternut puree leek ash, baby onions with a red wine jus
Cederberg Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Or

Almond risotto cake, broccoli sauce, roasted beetroot disc and veggie ball (vegan)
Cederberg Sustainable Rosé 2022

Palate cleanser
Green grape sorbet

Duo of red wine- and white wine-poached pears with honey mascarpone cream, honeycomb and citrus candy zest
Cederberg Shiraz 2019

The cost is R850 per person and tickets can be booked on Webtickets

Guests have the option to stay when the lunch has ended and go on a game drive at 15h30. Canapés: include compressed watermelon & balsamic pearls ; sesame & honey chicken skewers; brie & red onion tartlets as well as basil & sundried tomato fritters.
