Last night, The Venue in Morningside transformed into a dazzling homage to the iconic Studio 54 as CRUZ Vodka hosted yet another  unforgettable opening party for South African Fashion Week.

The event drew the crème de la crème of the South African fashion scene, setting a high bar for style, sophistication, and innovation ahead of the week-long fashion extravaganza kicking off tonight in Mzansi.

Embracing the glitz and glamour of New York’s legendary nightlife, the dress code encouraged guests to showcase their bold interpretations of disco-inspired couture. The result was a stunning visual feast, with attendees donning avant-garde ensembles that combined urban chic with a touch of flamboyant flair reminiscent of the Studio 54 era.

Among the notable guests was renowned “stylist to the stars” Phupho Gumede and Durban’s charismatic socialite, Naliyani Uma, whose vibrant energy added an extra layer of excitement to the festivities.

The CRUZ Vodka South African Fashion Week Opening Party served as a prelude to the upcoming SA Fashion Week, promising a week dedicated to creativity, diversity, and ingenuity in fashion. This collaboration exemplifies the shared commitment of CRUZ Vodka and SA Fashion Week to elevate local talent while embracing global trends.

Other celebrities in attendance included Gigi La Mayne, Maps Maponyane, Penny Lebyane, RobotBoi, Kayise Ngqula, Yaya Mavundla, Money Badoo, Jo Judnick- Wilson, Vourne Kgosinkwe, DJ Doowap, Margo Fargo, Lord Kez and the reigning Mr Supranational Fezile Mkhize, all bringing their unique style and charisma to the red carpet. Media personalities Zanele Potelwa, Caddy Tsotetsi and Dimpho Mokgotho showed up as well as Big Brother winner Khosi Twala and social media stars Coachella Randy and Kagiso Mogola all adding their own personal rendition of the Studio 54 theme with their fashion ensembles. Fashion designers Ole Ledimo and Msukisi Mbane truly delivered the essence of their brands.

As guests mingled and danced the night away, they indulged in handcrafted signature CRUZ cocktails, expertly curated to reflect the fusion of Studio 54 sophistication with the essence of CRUZ Vodka. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement, heralding the start of an extraordinary journey through the realms of fashion, art, and self-expression.

Entertainment for the night included a Studio 54 themed showcase with the iconic first lady of dance Tamara Dey alongside LeloWhatsGood and Tink, who kept the energy high and the dance floor alive.

“The energy last night was truly electric,” remarked CRUZ Vodka Brand Manager Maisha Mamabolo. “It was inspiring to witness such a vibrant convergence of creativity and culture. As we continue our longstanding commitment to the South African fashion industry, we were thrilled to celebrate the intersection of fashion, music, and culture while providing a platform for emerging designers. We look forward to the next few days and hope to see you all at SA Fashion Week.

The CRUZ Vodka South African Fashion Week Opening Party marked not only the beginning of a dynamic collaboration but also the dawn of a new era in South African fashion. With Sandton as its backdrop and the industry’s finest in attendance, the event was a fitting herald for the sartorial spectacle that awaits at South African Fashion Week.

SA Fashion Week runway shows kick off tonight in Melrose Arch and run until Saturday, 28th September, showcasing an array of incredible South African fashion to eager audiences.
