Setting the stage for what’s to be expected at this season’s South African Fashion Week, CRUZ Vodka last night officiated the opening for the country’s most prestigious fashion gathering with a dazzling spectacle of glitz and glamour. And what a night it was!

Hosted at the prestigious Aurum Restaurant in Sandton, Johannesburg, the by-invite-only affair was attended by an A-list guest list featuring the biggest celebrities, personalities and media from the world of fashion and entertainment.

And as expected guests pushed the boundaries of style and creativity, wearing stunning ensembles that showcased the diversity and dynamism of the country’s  local fashion scene.

Celebrities including Blue Mbombo, Nina Hastie, Gigi La Mayne, Chris Jaftha, Ponahalo Mojapelo, Penny Lebyane, Abigail Visagie, Kyle Clark, Rosemary Zima, Shamiso Mosaka, Yaya Mavundla, Naliyani Uma, Langa Mavuso, Kuhle Adams and Kim Jayde brought their A-game to the red carpet, making it an event that was as much about fashion as it was about entertainment. Reality TV stars included the gorgeous Tshegofatso Manche, Londie London, Nicole Capper, Angel Pather, Lynn Forbes  and some of the fabulous Housewives of Joburg cast.

Miss Earth Zabelo Hlabisa also graced the carpet with her three princesses as well as previous Miss South Africa Tansey Coetzee and previous Mrs South Africa Jo Judnick-Wilson.

Kay Sibiya and Judie Kama created excitement on the black carpet with their matching Loxion Kulcha outfits, alongside equally fashion industry sweethearts Theo and Vourne Kgosinwe. SA fashion designers in attendance included Ephraim Molingoana (Ephymol) Paledi Segapo (Palse Homme) Sello Medupe (Scalo), Craig Jacobs (Fundudzi, Ole Ledimo (House of Ole) Msukizi Mbane (Imprintz) and Inga Gubeka (Inga Atelier).

Synonyms for being a star-studded event that ushers in the South African Fashion Week in style, the who’s who on the fashion world enjoyed decadent, handcrafted New York Cruz Vodka cocktails, a tantalizing spread of gourmet delights and of course high fashion – all inspired by the theme New York, New York City and set against the backdrop of Sandton skyline – the perfect complement to kick-start a week of what can only be described as a celebration of SA fashion second to none.

Another highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the electrifying performances by South African music sensation Khuli Chana alongside the vibrant beats by DJ’s Just Judie and Denise Marz.

This year’s party marked a significant milestone for Cruz, as it continued its longstanding commitment to the South African fashion industry. The event was an opportunity for the brand to celebrate the intersection of fashion, music, and culture and to provide a platform for emerging designers and artists.

“We are thrilled to have hosted yet another incredible #CRUZSAFW Opening Party,” said Maisha Mamabolo Cruz Brand Manager. He added “This event is a testament to our dedication to the South African fashion industry, and we are delighted to continue our support by bringing together the biggest names in fashion, music, and entertainment. The event exemplifies the synergy between the fashion world and the entertainment industry, making it a must-attend event on the South African social calendar. As the fashion extravaganza continues throughout the week, fashion enthusiasts and industry insiders can expect more groundbreaking designs, extraordinary talent, and star-studded moments.”

SA Fashion Week runway shows will take place from tonight until Saturday 21st October, with three days of incredible South African fashion being showcased to not only an eager SA audience but fashion enthusiasts from around the world at the Mall of Africa.
