Cape Town’s wine lovers have a date with some of South Africa’s standout wines.
On Saturday, 26 September 2026, the 2026 Fine Wine Awards Trophy Winners Tasting, in partnership with American Express, will bring the competition’s Trophy-winning wines together under one roof at Cavendish Square.
Hosted by Wine Tonight?, the public tasting will take place in the Centre Court from 11AM to 2PM, giving visitors the chance to taste a selection of wines that earned recognition at this year’s Fine Wine Awards.
For wine lovers, it is an opportunity to explore award-winning wines side by side, discover producers and varietals, and find new favourites without travelling from estate to estate.
Nearly 1,000 Wines. Judged Blind.
The 2026 Fine Wine Awards saw almost 1,000 wines entered from producers and wine styles across South Africa.
What makes the judging process particularly important is that the wines were evaluated blind.
The tasting panel did not see the bottle, label, producer or price while judging. Instead, the focus was placed entirely on the quality of the wine in the glass.
From those entries, the highest-performing wines across the different categories were recognised as Trophy winners.
Now, those wines will take centre stage at Cavendish Square.
Taste the Wines That Took Home Trophies
The Trophy Winners Tasting gives members of the public an opportunity to experience the wines recognised at the 2026 Fine Wine Awards.
Visitors will be able to taste the Trophy-winning wines, discover new producers and varietals, and purchase their favourites directly from the Wine Tonight? store at Cavendish Square.
It creates a chance to compare different wines in one setting and decide which ones stand out personally.
And for American Express Cardmembers, there is an added benefit.
Cardmembers will receive complimentary access to the tasting, along with 15% off Fine Wine Awards Trophy-winning wines purchased on the day using their American Express Card.
No pre-booking is required.
Celebrating South African Wine on Merit
The Fine Wine Awards were created to recognise outstanding South African wines based on their merit, regardless of reputation, packaging or price.
That philosophy is reflected in the blind judging process, where the wine itself takes centre stage.
“The thing that makes this tasting particularly exciting is that these wines have earned their place purely on what was in the glass,” said Clifford Collard of Wine Tonight?
“Nearly 1,000 wines were entered this year and tasted blind. The Trophy winners represent some of the wines that really stood out to the judges. Bringing them together at Cavendish gives wine lovers a fantastic opportunity to taste some of South Africa’s best wines side by side and decide on their own favourites.”
One Place. A Collection of Trophy Winners.
The tasting forms part of the ongoing partnership between the Fine Wine Awards, Wine-of-the-Month Club, Wine Tonight? and American Express.
The partnership focuses on celebrating South African wine and making exceptional local wines more accessible to consumers.
For Cape Town wine lovers, the result is a focused afternoon built around the wines that emerged from this year’s competition with Trophy recognition.
And with almost 1,000 wines having entered the 2026 Awards, the Trophy Winners Tasting offers a chance to experience a selection of the wines that stood out during the blind judging process.
