This September, Gateway Theatre of Shopping is giving best friends and families the chance to step into the world of DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming adventure Forgotten Island before the film arrives in cinemas.
From 21 September to 4 October 2026, a free Forgotten Island movie activation will take over the centre court on the cinema level at Gateway, between Toy Kingdom and Nike.
The experience will run daily from 11 AM to 6 PM, making it a perfect school holiday stop for families, friends and young movie fans.
And there is a special reason to visit: Forgotten Island opens in cinemas nationwide on 24 September 2026, including Nu Metro Gateway.
A friendship tested by magic
At the centre of Forgotten Island is a friendship that has lasted a lifetime.
The DreamWorks Animation film follows Jo and Raissa, lifelong best friends who are preparing to take separate paths after graduating from high school.
On their final night together, something extraordinary happens.
The pair discover a mysterious portal. It transports them to Nakali, a fantastical island filled with magical and mythological creatures inspired by the stories they grew up hearing from their Filipino families.
However, getting home comes with a devastating price.
Jo and Raissa discover that they must sacrifice the memories of their entire friendship to return home.
Now, they have to find a way off the island before they forget each other forever.
It is an adventure built around a powerful question: How much would you risk to save your best friend?

Meet the Sketchbot experience
For something a little different, visitors can head to the Sketchbot experience.
There, they can have their photo taken with their bestie and transformed in a Forgotten Island-inspired style.
Best of all, there is no cost to participate.

Forgotten Island comes from DreamWorks Animation, the studio behind beloved stories such as How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek and The Wild Robot.
The new adventure continues that tradition of placing meaningful relationships at the heart of a fantastical story.
This time, however, friendship becomes the key to getting home.
The film is written and directed by Academy Award® and BAFTA nominee Joel Crawford and Januel P. Mercado.
It also features an all-star voice cast led by Grammy and Academy Award® winner H.E.R. and Liza Soberano.
They are joined by Dave Franco, Lea Salonga, Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy and Ronny Chieng.

Then, when the film arrives, head into Nu Metro Gateway and discover the story of Jo and Raissa on the big screen.
The Forgotten Island activation runs from 21 September to 4 October 2026, daily from 11 AM to 6 PM, at Gateway Theatre of Shopping.
Children of all ages are welcome, but must be accompanied by parents or guardians.
