What’s On at Meropa This May: A Month of Gospel Power, Lekompo Energy and Cultural Celebration

Polokwane, South Africa — May 2026 — If there’s one destination setting the tone for Limpopo’s entertainment calendar this May, it’s Meropa Casino & Entertainment World — where music, faith, and culture converge across three unforgettable events.

From a spiritually charged gospel recording to a high-energy lekompo takeover and a vibrant cultural festival finale, Meropa is curating a month designed to move both the soul and the crowd.

A Powerful Beginning: Dr Winnie Mashaba Live Recording

The month opens on a deeply spiritual note with Dr Winnie Mashaba Prayer Night Live Recording on Saturday, 2 May 2026.

Led by the iconic Dr Winnie Mashaba, the evening promises more than a performance — it is an experience of collective worship, reflection, and connection. Attendees will witness a live recording filled with heartfelt gospel music and moments of shared faith.

Mashaba, a celebrated gospel singer, television presenter, and businesswoman, has built a legacy recognised across major platforms, including nominations at the Kora Awards and wins at the South African Music Awards, South African Gospel Awards, and Metro FM Music Awards. Her honorary doctorate from Trinity International Bible University underscores her impact beyond music.

With limited tickets available, the event offers VIP experiences that include dinner, exclusive access, and a photo opportunity with the artist — turning the evening into a deeply personal encounter.

Lekompo Takes Over: Balcony Mix 9

From worship to wave-making sound, the energy shifts dramatically on Saturday, 9 May 2026 with Lekompo Balcony Mix 9 — the ninth instalment of a movement that continues to define the sound of the streets.

Hosted at the Outdoor Arena, this edition features powerhouse performers King Monada and Makhadzi, delivering a curated mix experience lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes, alongside a stacked lineup of artists, DJs, and MCs.

Fans can expect performances from Kaycherlow, Natiey Lepaka, Tribby Wa Di Bhozza, Abi Wa Mampela, Poobington, and Dil Brill, with MCs Thapelo Rabothata, Allen Winner, and Ross Madlisa steering the experience.

Behind the decks, a dynamic roster including Chachamisa Canny, Mvzzle, Shapzen Moratho, Hitboss SA, Janisto, Ceephonik, Izzy Maps, BL Zero, Buddysax & DJ Angelo, DJ Tasha Babe, King Salah, Cue Master & Blackbuddy, DJ West, and DJ Liquidator will keep the energy elevated throughout the day.

With a bold black, white, or black-and-white theme, LBM9 isn’t just an event — it’s a statement of style, sound, and cultural identity.

A Grand Finale: Rhythm & Roots Festival

Closing out the month in spectacular fashion is Rhythm & Roots Fest on Saturday, 30 May 2026 — a vibrant celebration of music, heritage, and community hosted at Jembe Gardens.

This full-scale festival invites attendees into a world of rhythm and connection, headlined by some of South Africa’s most respected names, including DJ Fresh, Black Motion, and Darque, alongside Q Scotch, King Bash, and surprise acts.

Beyond the music, the festival delivers a complete cultural experience — from local cuisine and craft drinks to an atmosphere that celebrates the richness of South African identity.

Whether you’re a seasoned festival-goer or stepping into this world for the first time, Rhythm & Roots offers an escape into something vibrant, communal, and unforgettable.

One Destination, Three Experiences

What sets Meropa apart this May is not just the variety — it’s the intentional curation of experiences that speak to different audiences while remaining rooted in connection.

From spiritual reflection to musical expression and cultural celebration, each event builds on the last — creating a month-long journey that captures the essence of South African entertainment.
