Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Review – Welcome to the Future

After unboxing the Galaxy S25 Ultra from its minimalist packaging, it’s fantastic to see how big the device is. I soon stoped noticing the size as I quickly got lost in all the cool features of the powerhouse in my hands. At 6.9 inches, the Dynamic AMOLED 2X display is incredibly bright (up to 2600 nits), ultra-smooth with a 120Hz refresh rate, and protected by the new Gorilla Glass Armor 2, the scratch-resistant, anti-reflective glass ceramic cover material for mobile devices, meaning it’s tougher and more scratch-resistant than ever, so let the adventure begin!

The smooth, rectangular-like shape of the Galaxy S25 ultra is cool because it allowed me to record a nice video during my Hi-Lo class without needing a stand or balancing it with something, and that was a hit with everyone in the class, surprised that this device didn’t fall over. It just stood there, as if it knew it had a job to do. Mind you, it wasn’t standing horizontally, but vertically where the S-Pen is, and it didn’t fall not once!!! I call that magic, but honestly, that flat edge and balanced weight distribution deserve some credit. Not many phones can do that, so A+ on that design.

The picture quality is amazing. I was able to play with the camera and the Pro feature, which gives you DSLR-style control—think shutter speed, ISO, white balance—all in your palm. The 200MP main sensor paired with AI enhancements from the new ProVisual Engine is no joke. When it came to Nightography, I wasn’t able to get a good handle on that just yet. But I know the Samsung S25 Ultra is capable as it has better low-light performance thanks to the improved image signal processor and AI multi-frame fusion, so I just need a bit more time to master it.

I tried to use the AI feature to turn my picture into an animated one and it looked so good that I wanted to try it with a group picture which didn’t pan out as it can only take one face at a time. The Now Bar is so convenient when it comes to quickly checking your notifications across all platforms, and the brief detailing makes it easy to read what the message might be about without actually opening it. Great for screening people you can’t talk to at that time. Combine that with the 7 years of software updates promised by Samsung, and you know this phone isn’t just powerful now, but the Galaxy S25 Ultra is built to last.

I am obsessed with the weather-adaptive wallpaper. Never have I been so excited for the weather to change, just so I can watch it changing on my wallpaper in real time. I’d go to bed hoping that it’s raining tomorrow just to watch it change. It’s the little things, things you didn’t know you needed, that make a device feel next-level.

This phone has so many tricks and features that I wasn’t able to get to everything fully. I’d like to explore the S-Pen more and get to sketch with it, see how effective it is and what else I can do with the ultra-responsive editing tool, which is also ideal for notes and device navigation.

It’s time to get your hands on one of the four colour variations of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and take your daily life to the next level!
