A Seat at the Table: @Sandton Hotel Turns Weekends into a Culinary Ritual for Johannesburg

In a city that moves at the speed of ambition, weekends in @Sandton Hotel are being reimagined as something slower, richer, and far more intentional. Here, dining is no longer just an add-on to a stay — it is the main event, a carefully curated experience designed to draw both guests and locals into a shared rhythm of indulgence, connection, and discovery.

Johannesburg has always been a city that understands the value of a good meal. But what @Sandton Hotel is building is something deeper — a weekend culture anchored in flavour, atmosphere, and accessibility. No room key required.

Where Mornings Begin with Bubbles

There is a certain quiet luxury in starting your day with intention. At the heart of this experience lies the Breakfast Buffet with Bubbles and Oysters, hosted every Saturday and Sunday from 07h00 to 11h00 at the hotel’s restaurant.

Priced at R250 per person, the offering blends the familiar comfort of a full breakfast spread with the elevated touch of sparkling wine and fresh oysters. It’s indulgent, yes — but also effortless. Smaller groups can simply arrive, no booking necessary, making it an easy, spontaneous decision for those mornings when the city feels just a little softer.

It’s the kind of breakfast that stretches into late morning conversations, where time slows and plates refill themselves almost instinctively.

Easter, Reimagined for Families

As the Easter weekend approaches, @Sandton Hotel transforms into a playground of memory-making moments. On 5 April, the Easter Egg Hunt and Lunch invites families into a day that blends childlike wonder with culinary delight.

The experience begins at the Clubhouse pool deck and kiddies’ play area, where the egg hunt unfolds — laughter echoing through the space as children chase moments of joy. From there, the celebration moves into the restaurant for a buffet lunch served from 12h00 to 16h00.

At R645 per person, with children aged four to twelve receiving a 50% discount and those under three dining for free, the event is structured to be inclusive — a thoughtful nod to families looking for meaningful, shared experiences.

The Grand Brunch That Defines the Month

If there is one event that captures the essence of @Sandton Hotel’s dining philosophy, it is the @Sandton Grand Brunch Buffet on Sunday, 19 April.

Running from 11h30 to 15h30 and priced at R410 per person, this is not just a meal — it is a statement.

Guests are welcomed with sparkling wine and Bloody Marys before stepping into a multi-sensory culinary journey. An oyster and sushi station anchors the seafood offering, while live carving stations and made-to-order omelettes ensure freshness at every turn.

But it is in the local touches that the experience truly resonates: boerewors sizzling with familiarity, vetkoek filled with savoury mince, and peri-peri chicken livers delivering that unmistakable South African kick. The meal closes on a sweet note, with malva pudding and Belgian waffles offering a comforting, indulgent finale.

Children’s pricing remains family-friendly, reinforcing the hotel’s commitment to shared experiences across generations.

Smoke, Fire, and Skyline Views

For those who prefer their weekends with a touch of fire and flair, the Spit Braai at the Clubhouse pool deck offers something distinctly South African — a celebration of food, flame, and open-air connection.

Priced at R425 per person and running from 12h00 to 16h00 on select dates (28 March, 25 April, and 30 May), the experience pairs slow-roasted meats with sweeping views across Sandton’s skyline.

It is relaxed yet refined, communal yet personal — a reminder that some of the best meals are the ones shared under open skies, where conversation flows as freely as the drinks.

More Than Dining — A Community in the Making

What sets @Sandton Hotel apart is not just the quality of its offerings, but the intention behind them. These experiences are not designed exclusively for hotel guests. They are open invitations to the city — to residents, families, friends, and food lovers looking for something more than just a place to eat.

Bookings for all events can be made via Dineplan, by emailing Ryan@sandton-hotel.co.za or by calling 011 395 4777.

In a city known for its relentless pace, @Sandton Hotel is quietly carving out a space where weekends are no longer rushed — but savoured.
