Officiating the opening of South Africa Fashion Week, CRUZ Vintage Black Vodka last night hosted one of the country’s most prestigious fashion gatherings with the who’s who of the SA fashion and entertainment world in attendance. And what a glitzy affair it was!

Kicking off the weeks’ celebrations, guests were treated to an exclusive evening of glitz and glam at newly renovated Levelthree in Sandton, where they enjoyed decadent Cruz cocktails and high fashion – all inspired by New York City and set against the backdrop of Sandton skyline.

Red carpet host Chris Jaftha welcomed guests as they arrived while award winning local designer Paledi Segapo presented a New York inspired fashion installation to be remembered. SA Fashion Week showcasing designer Artclub and Friends kitted out the promoters with super cool branded ankle socks and cute tote bags.

The star-studded, red carpet, by invite only affair boasted a long list of SA’s well known fashion forward personalities, designers, comedians, reality TV stars. including actresses Nambita Ben Mazwi, Lunathi Mampofu and sisters Candice and Refilwe Modiselle.

Other esteemed guests included media personalities Lasizwe, Abigail Visagie, Shamiso Mosaka and Kim Jayde, comedians Robot Boi and Primo. Reality TV stars included the gorgeous Housewives of Durban’s Annie Mthembu, Maria Isabella Valaskatzis and Sorisha Naidoo, Rosette Ncwana and Nicole Capper.

SA fashion designers Scalo, Fundunzi’s Craig Jacobs, Ole Ledimo from House of Ole and Imprint’s Msukizi Mbane graced the red carpet while top SA rtists Tamara Dey, Gigi La Mayne, KLA, Money Badoo and Limpopo’s own Makhadzi were also in attendance.

Industry sweethearts Theo and Vourne Kgosinwe were adorned in bright locally designer pieces alongside actor Sandile Mhlangu and beau Mbali Nkosi.

Entertainment for the evening included SA’s finest DJ Maphorisa, Musa Keys, DJ Venom and DJ K Mat delivering the beats, while Simmy performed her sultry tunes to an electrifying audience.

The handcrafted New York Vodka served as the perfect complement to kick-start a week of what can only be described as a celebration of SA fashion second to none.

SA Fashion Week runway shows will take place from this evening to Saturday, 22 April, with three days of incredible South African fashion being showcased to not only an eager SA audience but fashion enthusiasts from around the world at the Mall of Africa.

For more information about the show, follow the Cruz Vodka social media pages on both Twitter and Instagram. Alternatively, follow the hashtag: #CruzSAFW to see who wore what!
