After a well-deserved winter hiatus, Strictly Soul – Africa’s biggest R&B event and the first of its kind on the continent—is back, ready to sweep across Africa once again. Set to return in September 2024, this event promises an unforgettable night of soul and connection. Hosted by the charismatic Anita and featuring music from the globally renowned DJ Akio alongside local favourites, Strictly Soul’sreturn is not to be missed.

Originally a humble IG live stream during lockdown, Strictly Soul has since evolved into Africa’s grandest R&B link-up, captivating thousands and uniting soul music enthusiasts across the continent. Under the expert musical curation of Akio Kawahito and the vibrant hosting of Anita Makgetla, Strictly Soul is more than just an event—it’s a premium experience, a community and a unique musical journey designed to fully immerse attendees in the soulful vibes of R&B. This celebrated gathering has made its mark in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Gaborone, Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, Kigali, Windhoek, and more.

A Night of Unparalleled Soul

With its grand return, Strictly Soul will continue to deliver a unique perspective on R&B. The event is a comprehensive showcase that spans all elements of R&B, including Old School, New School, Neo Soul, Trap Soul, Future Beats, Soulful House, and Afrobeats. Each DJ set is thoughtfully curated, ensuring an electric atmosphere that resonates with all fans of soulful music.

Celebrating R&B Culture

At its heart, Strictly Soul is committed to celebrating R&B and soul music, fostering a deep sense of community and appreciation for this timeless genre. The event has grown into a cultural phenomenon that brings together people who share a passion for soulful sounds, creating a vibrant and inclusive environment for all.

Bigger Spaces, Bigger Vibes

The Strictly Soul team has been actively listening to the community’s feedback and has taken action to ensure that the Johannesburg events offer more space for everyone to enjoy the experience fully. While returning to the same premises, La Parada, strategic renovations will mean a more spacious layout, allowing for an even more immersive and comfortable event experience.

“We would like to thank our brand partners – Heineken, Heineken Silver and Spotify Africa. Their support has been instrumental in making Strictly Soul the premier R&B event that it is today.
