Tennis South Africa (TSA) and American Express are delighted to launch the Amex Tennis Town, a fan park during The Championships, Wimbledon 2024 held in Montecasino. American Express is operated in South Africa through its licensee Nedbank that issues American Express Cards and acquires American Express merchants.

The Amex Tennis Town runs from 5 to 7 July and 12 to 14 July (from 1 pm to around 10 pm).

The Amex Tennis Town aims to create a comprehensive fan zone that combines live Wimbledon screenings with a range of engaging activities and a food village that provides a wide range of culinary delights including traditional favourites like strawberries and cream. The Amex Food Village includes vendors like Pizza Perfect, SouvLucky, Love is BAO, Oh Yummy Shisanyama, Bubble & Freak, and more.

Over 50 children from development centres across Gauteng participated in a mass coaching clinic on the opening day of the Amex Tennis Town. On July 6 and 7, coaching clinics from expert coaches opened to the general public.

American Express Card Members enjoy a 50% discount for entry to the Amex Tennis Town, priority seating at the front of the main viewing screen, 20% off at the Wimbledon Shop, 10% off on food and beverage, and other benefits such as branded gift packs[1]. In addition, TSA registered members receive a 30% discount on all tickets.

Tickets are on sale at Ticketpro at R200 for the general public, R50 for children, and free for those under 2. Hospitality tickets are available at R4995 for a VIP premium package. Tickets can be purchased on https://shorturl.at/2sZtm.

The proceeds from general public ticket sales will be directed to Tennis South Africa to support the American Express Tennis Development Programme in developing local communities and nurturing tennis talent. This includes the development squad consisting of players between the ages of 12-18 years and the wheelchair tennis development initiative, assisting 16 upcoming players through high performance.

Gavin Crookes, President of Tennis South Africa, comments: “We are excited to host the Amex Tennis Town, the first fan park in South Africa during The Championships, Wimbledon. The Amex Tennis Town aims to afford fans an incredible atmosphere by creating an unforgettable viewing experience and engaging activities. The proceeds from general public ticket sales will be directed to TSA to support the next generation of tennis players in South Africa through the American Express Tennis Development Programme.”

“American Express has a long history of supporting tennis globally and we are delighted to host the Amex Tennis Town in South Africa. We have been a long-standing partner of Wimbledon, and we are excited to provide American Express Card Members and tennis fans in South Africa with a memorable experience, bringing to life why tennis is better with Amex”, says Briana Wilsey, Vice President and General Manager of Global Network Services EMEA at American Express.

The Sports Trust and the Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture have identified Mount View High School in Hanover Park, Western Cape, as the recipient of the American Express multi-sport court that will be used for tennis activations during the American Express Tennis Town.Additionally, the fan park will also feature an exciting mixed doubles competition, showcasing top Gauteng tennis schools such as St. Stithians College, St. Mary’s Waverley, Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool, Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool Pretoria, and two TSA Invitational teams.
