A world of sophisticated indulgence awaits at the newly-opened New Orleans Cocktail Bar & Grill within Carnival City on Johannesburg’s East Rand.

The licensed cocktail bar and grill offers all-day gourmet dining, imaginative cocktails, and captivating live entertainment, adding a new stop for food and fun at the venue known for its jovial atmosphere.

New Orleans welcomes visitors to unwind in its relaxed, stylish ambience with great food to suit all tastes.

“Our menu features a range of delectable starters, such as seared sliced fillet and oysters,” said New Orleans chef and manager James Goosen. Savour succulent mains such as rib eye steak, baby chicken, traditional New Orleans jambalaya, and meaty platters that are ideal for sharing with friends and a glass of whisky.

The popular house-baked traditional flatbreads, delivered fresh to your table, are the perfect accompaniment to the Adana beef or lamb kebabs.

On Friday and Saturday evenings, enjoy live bands from 6pm to 9pm, or stay late to groove to beats spun by resident DJs from 10pm.  “We turn up the music and get the party going with popular party songs and beats, including Amapiano, with its unique blend of deep house, jazz, and lounge music,” said Bryan O’Connor, General Manager of Carnival City. On Sundays, enjoy live saxophone performances to wind down the weekend.

“The venue pays homage to the legendary artists from days gone by who shaped jazz from its New Orleans roots to the global stage, including Sophiatown in Johannesburg.” From Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald to local icons like Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba and Abdullah Ibrahim, the New Orleans Cocktail Bar & Grill celebrates the rich legacy of jazz music, blended with the melodies of funky Amapiano.

“Don’t forget to diarise our stellar line-up of unforgettable performances, because we promise non-stop music action from a variety of different performers.”

New Orleans is open daily from 11am to 11pm, with extended hours until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. Weekend entrance fees for the Piano Bar for live jazz bands, DJs, and live saxophone performances range from R50 to R100, with ticket prices for other events subject to change. The venue is strictly for those over the age of 21.
