A new chapter in African entertainment is about to be written.

For the first time since its inception, the Africa Choice Awards (ACA) is coming to South Africa, bringing one of the continent’s most prestigious celebrations of creative excellence to local soil.

The 7th annual Africa Choice Awards will take place on 26 September 2026 at SunBet Arena, Time Square, Pretoria, marking a historic milestone not only for the awards but also for South Africa’s growing influence within Africa’s creative economy.

The announcement positions South Africa as the official host nation for one of the continent’s premier awards platforms, reinforcing its reputation as a destination where culture, entertainment and innovation continue to thrive.

A celebration of African excellence

The Africa Choice Awards has established itself as a Pan-African platform dedicated to recognising outstanding achievement across the creative industries.

Each year, the awards bring together artists, media personalities, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, brands and audiences from across Africa to celebrate the remarkable talent shaping the continent’s cultural landscape.

This year’s edition promises another world-class showcase of African creativity, culture and achievement, uniting some of the continent’s most influential voices under one roof.

South Africa takes centre stage

The 2026 edition is officially licensed and produced by Mmina Tshipi Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) under the leadership of cultural strategist and marketing executive Puni Modiboa.

Hosting the awards in South Africa represents a significant moment for the country’s entertainment and creative sectors, further positioning it as a leading destination for African cultural recognition.

Beyond celebrating achievement, the event also reflects the continued growth of Africa’s creative industries and their increasing influence on the global stage.

Recognising the industries driving Africa’s creative economy

The Africa Choice Awards honours excellence across a diverse range of sectors that continue to shape the continent’s fast-growing creative landscape.

Award categories include:

  • Film and Television
  • Music
  • Radio and Broadcasting
  • Fashion and Lifestyle
  • Digital Media and Content Creation
  • Comedy and Performance
  • Entrepreneurship and Creative Business

Together, these industries represent the heartbeat of Africa’s expanding creative economy, highlighting the innovation, storytelling and entrepreneurship emerging across the continent.

More than an awards ceremony

For Puni Modiboa, License Holder and Executive Producer, the Africa Choice Awards represents something much bigger than a single evening of celebration.

“This is a defining moment for Africa. The Africa Choice Awards is more than an event; it is a movement that celebrates African excellence, ownership, and global cultural influence. We are building a platform where African talent is recognised, amplified, and positioned on the world stage.”

That vision continues to guide the evolution of the awards as they create opportunities for recognition, collaboration and continental unity.

Tickets officially go on sale

Excitement is already building ahead of September’s celebration.

Tickets for the Africa Choice Awards South Africa 2026 officially go on sale on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, through Ticketpro.

Members of the public, industry professionals, creatives and supporters from across Africa are encouraged to secure their seats for what promises to be a landmark celebration of African talent and achievement.

All roads lead to Pretoria

As Africa’s creators continue to inspire audiences around the world, the Africa Choice Awards is preparing to honour those shaping the continent’s future.

From music and film to fashion, broadcasting, entrepreneurship and digital storytelling, the awards recognise the people pushing creative boundaries and elevating African excellence.

When the lights come on at SunBet Arena this September, South Africa will proudly host a celebration that reflects the power, diversity and global influence of Africa’s creative industries.
