South Africa’s padel story has evolved at remarkable speed. What was once considered a niche sport has rapidly transformed into one of the country’s fastest-growing recreational and competitive activities, with new courts, clubs and social leagues continuing to emerge nationwide.

Now, the sport reaches another historic milestone as South Africa hosts its first-ever Premier Padel Pretoria P1 tournament, welcoming some of the world’s top professional players to local courts for the very first time.

Joining the celebration is Heineken®, which is enhancing the fan experience by bringing spectators closer to the action through an exclusive hospitality offering designed to celebrate both the sport and the growing community around it.

A Landmark Moment for South African Padel

The arrival of the Premier Padel Tour in Pretoria represents a defining chapter for South African padel.

For the first time, local fans have the opportunity to watch many of the sport’s leading international stars compete on home soil, providing an unprecedented opportunity to experience professional padel at its highest level without leaving the country.

As participation in padel continues to grow across South Africa, the tournament reflects how quickly the sport has established itself among players of all ages and skill levels.

According to Warrick Wyngaard, Marketing Communication Manager at Heineken®, the sport’s accessibility is one of the key reasons behind its rapid rise.

“There’s something special about padel. It’s fast, accessible and incredibly social, and that’s a big part of why people have embraced it so quickly. As the sport continues to grow in South Africa, we wanted to be part of this milestone moment and give people the opportunity to experience the excitement of professional padel up close.”

More Than a Sponsorship

Rather than limiting its involvement to traditional event sponsorship, Heineken® is creating an experience designed to immerse fans in the tournament atmosphere.

At the heart of its activation is the Heineken Silver Courtside Club, an exclusive hospitality space that gives attendees premium views of the court while enjoying the excitement of live professional competition.

Guests can relax with a Heineken Silver or Heineken 0.0 while taking in the action, creating an environment that celebrates not only elite sport but also the social connections that make live sporting events memorable.

The Courtside Club has been designed to encourage fans to share the excitement together while remaining close to every point, rally and match-winning moment.

Celebrating the Social Spirit of Sport

For Heineken®, the experience extends beyond what happens on the court.

The brand believes many of sport’s greatest memories are created through shared experiences among supporters, and the Courtside Club has been developed with that philosophy in mind.

Wyngaard explains:

“We know some of the best sporting memories are created in the moments shared with other fans. The Courtside Club has been designed to enhance that experience, giving people a front-row seat to the action while creating a relaxed and enjoyable environment around it.”

Supporting the Growth of Padel

Heineken®’s involvement comes at a significant moment for the sport’s development in South Africa.

By supporting the country’s first Premier Padel tournament, the brand is helping celebrate a sport that continues to attract new players while introducing even more people to the professional game.

The tournament offers existing padel enthusiasts the opportunity to witness world-class competition firsthand, while inspiring newcomers to discover why the sport has become one of South Africa’s fastest-growing activities.

Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Wyngaard says the event represents an exciting new chapter for local sport.

“We’re proud to be part of this milestone. Premier Padel’s arrival in South Africa is an exciting moment for the sport and for local fans. We’re looking forward to helping make that experience even more memorable.”

A New Era for Padel in South Africa

As the world’s leading players compete in Pretoria, the Premier Padel Pretoria P1 signals far more than the arrival of an international tournament.

It represents recognition of South Africa’s rapidly growing padel community and its place on the global stage.

With passionate fans, elite competition and immersive experiences like the Heineken Silver Courtside Club, the tournament promises to leave a lasting impression—not only on those watching from the stands, but also on the future of padel across the country.
