On 5 March 2023, the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts, in association with the City of Cape Town, will welcome the multi-award-winning artist Mandisi Dyantyis to the stage.

The South African trumpeter and vocalist will transform the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts stage into a platform of Afro-soul and Jazz on the Sunday evening. The artist will perform some of his favourite tracks from his debut album, Somandla, and his South African Music Awards-winning album, Cwaka. Mandisi Dyantyis will lead on vocals and trumpet, accompanied by his backup singers, Buddy Wells on saxophone, Lonwabo Mafani on piano, Kevin Gibson on drums, and Steve De Sousa on double bass.

As a versatile musician, composer, arranger, and producer in Jazz, Western Classical and African Indigenous music, Mandisi Dyantyis has performed with some of the country’s top musicians over the years. He has travelled the world and graced every important stage in South Africa, sold out every show since 2020, so this is certainly a performance that is not to be missed.

“The City of Cape Town is proud to partner with the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts to showcase one of South Africa’s most legendary artists. We are incredibly excited to see Mandisi Dyantyis at Kirstenbosch, mesmerising the crowd at such an incredible setting,” said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.

Enjoy an afternoon listening to a world-class musical performance on the slopes of Table Mountain. Pack a picnic or pre-order from the Kirstenbosch Tea Room (24 hours in advance) or Moyo Restaurant (five days in advance), with all details on the Kirstenbosch website.

Tickets cost R190/p – R260/p at www.webtickets.co.za or the Kirstenbosch Ticket Office. Please note that Webtickets is the ONLY online ticketing partner. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden cannot guarantee that tickets purchased from third parties will be valid. (Service fees are not charged, so you should only pay the prices quoted above.)
