Get ready for an exhilarating six hour Sew-A-Thon, set to end in a nail-biting fight to the finish on the main stage of Comic Con Cape Town this April. Brought to you by Brother International South Africa with material provided by Kirsch Stein & Co. – the Comic Con Cape Town Sew-a-Thon 2023 will see beginners, intermediates, advanced sewists, as well as cosplayers, flex their sewing machines as they compete in a mystery challenge in an attempt to come out on top and win incredible prizes.

Taking place at the CTICC in Cape Town on Thursday 27th of April, Sew-A-Thon contestants will receive a briefing two weeks before the event. After they receive their challenge, they will be able to cut the patterns and finish their mood board before the event. At Comic Con Cape Town they will be challenged to bring the garment to life and model it on the main stage.

Truly an all-encompassing challenge for sewists – judges will consider the presence of accurate and even stitching, if the garment is executed using correct tension, finishing techniques and even machine settings.

“The Sew-a-thon is such a great opportunity for cosplayers to stretch their creative skills. We’re very excited to see the amazing talent at this, the second Brother Comic Con Sew-a-thon. And more so now that it is part of the main event in Cape Town. The collaboration between Brother and Comic Con Africa is one that brings our innovative products to a whole new audience. Especially with spin-off partnerships such as the one with Ludus Cosplay, last years’ Championship winner. It’s an exciting time and we are thrilled to associate our brand with Comic Con Africa.” Says Angelique McGrath, Marketing Specialist for Brother International South Africa

For an entry fee of only R150.00, contestants could stand a chance to place in the top 3 and will receive incredible prizes and others will be awarded with spot prizes.
