Not so long ago, the five women from Pretoria had the country abuzz in Die Real Housewives van Pretoria. Now it’s time for the picturesque Cape with Die Real Housewives van die Wynlande.

There is six women that will open their houses, their hearts and their lives to viewers. From former beauty queens, entrepreneurs with bright ideas, a fitness model with a lust for life, a medical doctor that moved from trauma to aesthetic, a singer that exchange the microphone for the corporate life to a woman that is married to the head of one of the oldest South African companies. The curious ones will have to wait until Friday 31 March 2023 when the names of these glamorous women will be announced.

Die Real Housewives van die Wynlande was filmed in and around Franschhoek, Paarl, Stellenbosch and Somerset West. According to Barrie Kelly from NBC Universal, the American entertainment company who owns the Housewives-franchise, Die Real Housewives van die Wynlande is one of the most gorgeous location of the housewives franchises we have.

“The Cape Winelands ‘set’ is incredible and I love how the opening titles showcases this,” says Kelly.

“The scenery of nature and the beautiful towns are truly one of the main characters of the series,” says the series director Pascual Wakefield. “Viewers will definitely relate to every woman, sit on the edge of their seats when things get serious and be emotionally moved at times. There will also be a lot of laughter – all in one episode. These women lead luxurious lives with a lot of heart”

“It was a privilege to shoot this series in one of the most photogenic regions in our country,” says Lindi Lucouw from Red Pepper, the production company that is responsible for the series. “Our six colourful women have strong opinions and will definitely get the country talking. Viewers can expect drama, emotion and punchy humour – sometimes very tongue in cheek.

The Real Housewives-franchise started in March 2006 in America with The Real Housewives of Orange County. Ever since then, 11 different series have been produced in America with 21 international versions which includes series in Johannesburg (Mzansi Magic), Durban (Showmax) and Cape Town (Mzansi Magic) that aired on MultiChoice platforms. Die Real Housewives van Pretoria, which started in October 2022 on kykNET, was the first series in Afrikaans.

Die Real Housewives van die Wynlande starts Thursday 20 April 2023 at 20:00 on kykNET, DStv channel 144.
