Hobby-X, the premier showcase for hobbies and crafts in South Africa, and Cricut is proud to announce its ambitious endeavour to set a World Record for creating the largest rolled paper flower wall. Scheduled to take place at Hobby-X 2024, this initiative aims not only to set a record but also to spread joy, foster community engagement, and make a meaningful impact.

The focal point of this initiative will be an impressive 6m x 3m flower wall, which will be meticulously crafted under the supervision of a World Record Adjudicator over four days. Visitors to Hobby-X will have the opportunity to contribute to this monumental project by creating their own rolled paper flowers. The event organizers anticipate the participation of countless craft enthusiasts, hobbyists, and industry stakeholders, making it a truly collaborative effort.

Marlene Bosch, Show Director of Hobby-X, emphasized the importance of community collaboration in achieving this ambitious goal. “At Hobby-X, we believe in the power of unity and creativity to spark joy and make a difference. Together with Cricut our endeavour to create the largest Rolled Paper Flower Wall isn’t just about setting a new World Record; it’s a testament to the collaborative spirit of our visitors and the craft community at large. We invite each and every one of you to join us in this monumental effort, where every fold, every petal, and every hand that contributes brings us closer to our shared goal.”

Cricut South Africa, a key partner in this endeavour, will be sponsoring machines to assist in cutting out flower templates for the wall, facilitating the creative process and ensuring the project’s success.

“We are honoured to return to Hobby X for another year of inspiration and creativity,” said Martin Kruger, Sales and Marketing Director at Cricut. “This event is a celebration of all things crafty, and we are excited to contribute to the vibrant atmosphere. With the new addition of the man cave, there’s even more to explore and enjoy. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Hobby X for this opportunity, and we look forward to an unforgettable experience. Moreover, we are proud to announce our attempt to set a World Record for the largest rolled paper flower wall, inviting our members and visitors of the show to join us in this monumental endeavour.”

In addition to aiming for the World Record, Hobby-X’s initiative will culminate in the donation of the flower wall to chosen charities, further spreading joy and happiness beyond the confines of the event.

Hobby-X, established in 1998, has grown exponentially over the past 25 years to become the premier event for hobbyists and craft enthusiasts in South Africa. Featuring a diverse range of hobbies and crafts, the event showcases the latest products, supplies, and techniques, while also providing opportunities for networking, learning, and hands-on experiences.

Hobby-X 2024 promises to be an unforgettable celebration of creativity, community, and compassion. Join us as we embark on this extraordinary journey to make history and spread joy one flower at a time.
