Those winter chills will be a distant memory when you visit Sun City Resort between end May and August when SunFest promises 11 weeks of non-stop pleasure. The North West Province’s mild, dry winter climate means loads of exciting outdoor events and activities, and a mega line up of concerts to cater for all musical tastes, including jazz, gospel, R&B and Afrikaans rock.

This annual winter programme will be bigger and better than ever before with something for everyone, and all ages. With the slew of public holidays on the calendar, plus school holidays, this is the perfect opportunity to pack your bags and head north.

To whet your appetite for fun, the programme begins with a movie night in the Greenhouse on Saturday, May 31. June is packed with merry making with the Father’s Day weekend; an unforgettable evening of worship and praise as gospel artist Bucy Radebe records her latest live album; and Sonu Nigam, one of India’s most iconic and versatile singers, renowned for his soulful voice, in concert

The inaugural Ziyakhala Mo Sun City Festival, an eclectic celebration of traditional music, culture, and fashion will take place on Saturday 28 June 2025. This carefully curated experience is designed to showcase the best of South African tradition and musical talent while offering attendees an immersive and luxurious getaway.

In addition, Sun City is partnering with the SABC African Language stations to be the leading voice for all marketing communications for the Ziyakhala Mo Sun City Festival, touching all corners of the country and reaching all lovers of traditional South African music who would like to experience these one-of-a-kind cultural celebrations.

The partnership will allow a seamless and authentic amalgamation of various leading voices in the entertainment space to speak directly to their audiences and share their love for the music and culture with them.

Come July and it will be time for Silent Discos, and to coincide with school holidays, the under-18s club at Encore. Young guests will be thrilled when the Smurfs come to visit. Afrikaans music lovers will be out in full force for Eurock on Saturday, 19 July, featuring Die Heuwels Fantasties, Juan Boucher, Karen Zoid and Francois van Coke and Refentse exploring a variety of musical genres like rock, indie, alternative and country.

August is of course Women’s Month, and National Women’s Day is on the 9th. From Friday, 8 August to Sunday, 10 August, the All For Women concert will include numerous events. There’ll be a gala dinner on the Friday, followed by international legend Kenny Lattimore live on stage at the iconic Sun City Superbowl on the Saturday. Lattimore, known for his soulful voice and captivating stage presence, will be performing fan favourites such as “For You I Will”, “If You Could See You”, “You Don’t Have To Cry”, and many more. On the Sunday, the Metro FM Love Movement will take guests on a musical journey to the heart of love and rhythm, featuring Wilson B Nkosi, Sentle, Paul Mtirara and Msizi Shembe supported by Moloke Sithole, Vintilage, Bra T, Joey Mekoa and Nyati.

No time to rest: The inaugural Bakwena Jazz Experience the following weekend will be an elegant celebration of music, culture, and elegance. Over August 15 and 16, it includes an intimate jazz dinner, a golf day at the Gary Player Country Club, and the main event – with a dinner for premium ticket holders who will enjoy a plated four-course gourmet dinner, perfectly paired with a beautiful selection of wines, while experiencing an avant-garde lineup of jazz superstars.

This is just a small taste of what Sun City will be doing for SunFest, with more events, concerts and acts to be announced. Make sure you follow Sun City via microsite or suncity.co.za to be the first to know about them. Break away from the dull and the humdrum and head to Sun City this winter where you’ll find the welcome to be warm, and the fun to be never-ending.
