Pokémon fans are in for a treat at the end of the month, when Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals launches globally. The expansion set will be available at hobby stores and toy stores countrywide, and are destined to sell out fast.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game’s upcoming expansion, Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals set marks the return of the infamous Team Rocket, introducing 83 new cards themed around the villainous organization. Players can align with heroic duos like Ethan & Ho-Oh ex or Cynthia & Garchomp ex, or embrace the darker side with Team Rocket’s lineup.

Originally released in Japan as The Glory of Team Rocket on April 18, 2025, this set revives the “Trainer’s Pokémon” mechanic, showcasing Pokémon under the command of various Team Rocket members like Giovanni, Proton, and Archer. Notable cards include Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex, which requires four Team Rocket’s Pokémon in play to attack, and Team Rocket’s Persian ex, capable of copying attacks from the opponent’s deck.

Long-time fan and spokesperson for Solarpop – Philip Galliford, says: “The Destined Rivals expansion asks players to decide where their allegiances lie and how they’ll build their strategy to defeat their opponents. With over two hundred and forty cards, it’s a fun expansion with plenty of options to forge a path to victory.”

Players eager to experience the new cards can access them digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app beginning May 29: Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals
