South African music history is getting ready for another big celebration.
Oskido’s Big Day Out has announced a fresh wave of talent for its third edition, with some of Durban’s most recognisable dance music names joining the 2026 lineup.
DJ Tira, DJ Sox and Durban’s Finest, together with DJ Cndo, will bring their sounds to Huddle Park in Linksfield, Johannesburg, on Saturday, 28 November 2026.
But this year’s festival is about more than a day of music.
It is also set to celebrate the influence of Durban on South Africa’s dance music story.
Durban’s sound takes the spotlight
For decades, Durban has played an important role in shaping Mzansi’s dance music culture.
From the influential Kwaito era to the sounds moving audiences today, the city has produced music that has connected with and influenced generations.
Big Day Out 2026 will pay homage to that legacy by bringing together established pioneers, influential DJs and artists whose music continues to cross generational lines.
The newly announced Durban names add another layer to the festival’s two-stage experience. Their presence will help celebrate the artists, sounds and cultural moments that have contributed to South Africa’s musical identity.
It is a fitting addition to a festival built around music that brings generations together.
A birthday celebration with a major milestone
There is another reason this year’s Big Day Out carries particular significance.
The festival will celebrate Oskido’s birthday, while also marking a major milestone in his career.
Earlier this year, Oskido was awarded the Order of Ikhamanga by the Presidency in recognition of his outstanding contribution to South African music and culture.
That milestone gives the 2026 edition an added layer of meaning.
The festival will not only look at the music that has shaped South Africa. It will also celebrate a career that has become part of that story.
FNB joins Big Day Out
Adding another significant dimension to the festival, FNB has been announced as an official partner of Oskido’s Big Day Out 2026.
According to FNB, the partnership brings together two brands with a shared focus on connection, experiences and enabling South Africans to do more with moments that matter.
Philani Potwana, CEO of FNB Private Core Banking and Credit Card, said music has a unique ability to bring people together and create lasting memories.
He also highlighted the importance of longevity, relevance, strong foundations and legacy, values that FNB says align with its approach to helping customers build and preserve their own legacies.
For FNB, the partnership also forms part of its longstanding support for arts and culture and its focus on creating connections beyond traditional banking.
Oskido looks ahead
For Oskido, the partnership represents another chapter for a festival that continues to grow while staying connected to the music and culture that inspired it.
“Big Day Out has always been about bringing people together through music,” Oskido said.
He added that this year’s festival will take the experience further with artists from different eras, two stages and the new FNB partnership.
With more talent still to be announced, the 2026 edition is shaping up to reflect South African music across generations.
The festival will celebrate where the country’s music has been, where it is now and where it is heading next.
One day. Two stages. Generations of sound.
Whether audiences arrive for the classics, contemporary sounds, the dancefloor energy or simply a day with friends and family, Big Day Out is positioning its 2026 edition as a full-day celebration of South African music and culture.
The festival will run from 12:00 to 22:00, with music spanning House, Kwaito, Amapiano and Hip Hop.
Further festival announcements, performances and lifestyle experiences are expected in the build-up to November.
Tickets are available through Webtickets, with General Admission, VIP and limited premium hospitality options available.
