Politically Aweh: Poll Dancing Brings Politics, Comedy and Facts to Cape Town

Politics can be serious. Sometimes, it can also be funny.

With elections approaching, campaign promises gathering momentum and political conversations finding their way into everything from newsrooms to WhatsApp groups, Politically Aweh is preparing to turn the political noise into an evening of satire, comedy and fact-checked commentary.

On Wednesday, 21 October 2026, Poll Dancing arrives at the Homecoming Centre in Cape Town for one night that promises plenty of laughs while keeping audiences connected to the issues behind the headlines.

Tickets are priced at R250 via Quicket. The event is scheduled for 7PM.

When Politics Becomes Comedy

Politics is rarely short of material.

The cost of living is up. Political parties are preparing for another round of promises and campaigning. Posters are appearing. Political opinions are multiplying. And the international news cycle continues to provide its own share of surprises.

Poll Dancing takes that reality and puts it on stage.

Hosted by KG Mokgadi and Zoë Human, the show brings together Dillan Oliphant, Dan Corder, Lindy Johnson, Naledi Mashishi and more for a fast-paced evening combining stand-up, sketches, interviews, reporting and political satire.

The current event listing also describes the show as an evening of political satire, comedy and commentary covering South African politics, culture and everything in between.

More Than Just the Jokes

Behind the laughter is another part of the show’s concept.

Poll Dancing is designed to give audiences context around the political stories dominating public conversation.

Journalists and research partners will help unpack what is happening on the ground, bringing context to headlines, campaign promises and political developments.

The show’s premise is straightforward: the facts are checked, while politicians are fair game.

That creates a space where political commentary and comedy can share the same stage without leaving the information behind.

A Night for the Politically Curious

You do not need to describe yourself as a political expert to understand the premise.

The show is aimed at anyone who has found themselves following an election campaign, debating a headline or listening to that friend who claims they “don’t follow politics” before delivering a lengthy political voice note.

That mixture of everyday political conversation and live comedy is at the heart of the experience.

Bring your opinions.

Bring your questions.

Bring your friends.

And perhaps bring the person who insists they are completely uninterested in politics.

One Stage. Plenty of Politics.

The result is a live show built around several different forms of storytelling.

Stand-up brings the laughs.

Sketches create space for satire.

Interviews add another dimension.

Reporting and research provide context.

Together, these elements are designed to create an evening that engages with politics while refusing to take the political circus too seriously.

The show’s message to audiences is equally clear: come for the laughs, but leave with something more.
