Petrolheads and LEGO® lovers alike are in for a torque-filled treat at the upcoming LEGO Racing Garage event taking place at Mall of Africa in Johannesburg from 5 to 14 July 2024.

LEGO racing will take over the Mall of Africa’s Centre Court arena and will set stage for the ultimate car show, featuring an exhibition of epic LEGO Vehicle builds that adults and kids with a passion for all things fast and furious won’t want to miss out on. The event will also feature a thrilling racetrack setup specially designed for younger LEGO fans and racing enthusiasts.

Miroslav Říha, Country Manager for The LEGO Group’s MEA region says, “Igniting LEGO fans’ passion for cars and racing through LEGO play experiences creates more spaces for car lovers to appreciate what they love most while expressing their creativity. At the same time, it also allows us to bring families together through exciting play experiences. The LEGO Group aims to celebrate this shared love by encouraging adults and kids alike to build and recreate these iconic cars together.”

Fans of all ages can look forward to an exciting exhibition on display, including classics like the LEGO Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance, a perfect 1:8 scale model complete with six-cylinder engine with moving pistons.

If bold exotic cars are more your speed, the LEGO Technic Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica in sunset orange is bound to blow your cap back, featuring a replica V10 engine, opening doors and steering.

The LEGO ICONS McLaren MP4/4, a homage to racing legend Ayrton Senna that was ranked as one of the most successful F1 racing cars of all time, will also make an appearance. Fans can get up close and personal with this spectacular build, appreciating its accurate detailing that captures the look and feel of the legendary 1988 racer, complete with displayable Ayrton Senna minifigure.

For younger LEGO fans, sets from the LEGO City range will also be on display, including the LEGO City Green Race Car with sporty tyres and a cool rear spoiler, as well as the LEGO City Go-Karts and Race Drivers, all with racing driver mini figures.

Kids can also earn their racing stripes at the #LEGOBuiltforSpeed racetrack. From a thrilling race against the clock to change tyres in the pit and a contest to build the ultimate LEGO car creations, to the chance to race their own LEGO car creations on the track and have their photos taken on the winners’ podium, the LEGO Racing Garage promises to be loads of fun.

Entrance is free for all kids, adults and exhibition visitors. The activation is open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Sunday from the 5th to the 14th of July. All LEGO® sets on display at the event will be available for purchase at the LEGO® Certified Store located in Mall of Africa and online.
