One swing. One perfect shot. R100,000.
That was the extraordinary moment that electrified the SEIFSA Annual Golf & Padel Day at Randpark Club on Friday, 21 August 2026.
Held across the Bushwillow and Firethorn courses, the annual gathering delivered record participation while bringing together members, industry leaders, clients and partners from across South Africa’s metals and engineering sector.
But even on a day packed with competition and networking, one moment stood above the rest.
A player landed a hole-in-one on the SEIFSA-sponsored 17th hole of the Firethorn course, triggering the R100,000 hole-in-one prize.
It was an unexpected highlight that gave an already record-breaking event an unforgettable finish.
Record Participation Meets Serious Competition
The scale of this year’s event was impossible to miss.
A total of 74 fourballs took on the Bushwillow and Firethorn courses, while 35 players competed in the padel tournament.
The result was more than a day of sport.
It became a meeting point for people connected to the metals and engineering industry, creating an informal environment for conversations, relationships and business connections away from the boardroom.
The event was supported by headline sponsor Rand Mutual Assurance Prevention Programme, whose continued partnership with SEIFSA contributed to the success of the 2026 Golf & Padel Day.

Padel Returns for a Second Year
Golf was not the only sport commanding attention.
For the second consecutive year, padel formed part of the SEIFSA event, adding a fresh competitive dimension while maintaining the day’s central purpose: bringing people from across the metals and engineering sector together.
The padel tournament saw 35 players take to the court.
Juexin Fire Engineering emerged victorious, with Tauriq Abrahams and Shaquille Jardien taking first place.
Industrial Water Cooling (Pty) Ltd finished second, represented by Deon Claassen and Carlien Ferreira.
Howden Africa (Pty) Ltd claimed third place with Renato Lopes and Lester Chihoro.
The Best Vibe/Gees Award went to Iva Msolozi and Carol Figueiredo of Industrial Water Cooling (Pty) Ltd.
Industry Connections Beyond the Boardroom
The sporting action was only one part of the day’s appeal.
For the first time, four SEIFSA-affiliated associations — Electrical Allied Industries Association (EEAIA), Construction Engineering Industries Association (CEA), Temporary Employment Services Division (TESD), Light Engineering Industries Association (LEIA) and South African Pump and Manufacturers Association (SAPMA) — sponsored watering holes and entered fourballs.
The initiative created additional opportunities for the associations to showcase their benefits and engage directly with participants.
According to SEIFSA, the activations generated a number of enquiries that the respective associations will follow up on.
Across both golf courses, watering-hole sponsors contributed to the atmosphere through activations and refreshments, while giving participants more opportunities to engage.
There was also a focus on wellbeing.
Participants had access to complimentary health screenings provided by Unicare Bassonia Pharmacy.
A Gathering Built Around Relationships
For Tafadzwa Chibanguza, SEIFSA Chief Executive Officer, the record turnout demonstrated the continued value members and industry partners place on opportunities to connect.
He thanked SEIFSA’s members, sponsors and partners for their continued support, highlighting the role that this support plays in bringing people across the industry together.
Chibanguza also stressed the importance of creating spaces where industry relationships can grow outside formal business settings.
For SEIFSA, that role extends beyond hosting an annual sporting event.
It is about acting as a convening partner for the metals and engineering sector and creating opportunities for people to strengthen relationships and build networks.
A Record Day With Momentum for 2027
The numbers tell one part of the story.
74 fourballs.
35 padel players.
A R100,000 hole-in-one.
And a record turnout that brought the industry together at Randpark Club.
The 2026 SEIFSA Golf & Padel Day demonstrated how sport can create a different kind of meeting place — one where competition, conversation, networking and community can share the same space.
For the winners, there were trophies and bragging rights.
For the participants, there were connections to build.
And for SEIFSA, there is now a new benchmark to beat.
After a record-breaking 2026, the organisation is already looking ahead to 2027.
