Spur and Springboks Launch Dream Mascot Competition for Young Rugby Fans Across South Africa

For many South African children, walking onto the field beside the Springboks is the kind of dream that lives somewhere between imagination and national pride. It is the roar of a packed stadium, the sight of green and gold jerseys under floodlights, and the unforgettable feeling of standing shoulder to shoulder with rugby heroes before kick-off.

Now, in partnership with Spur Steak Ranches, that dream is becoming a reality for a select group of young rugby fans.

Spur Steak Ranches has officially launched a nationwide competition giving children the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become official mascots for the Springboks during two major international fixtures taking place in July 2026.

The competition forms part of a family-focused campaign celebrating South Africa’s rugby culture while creating unforgettable moments for young supporters and their families.

Two Massive Springbok Match Experiences Up for Grabs

Winners will have the opportunity to walk onto the field as official mascots at one of the following international rugby fixtures:

  • South Africa vs Scotland — 11 July 2026 at Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria
  • South Africa vs Wales — 18 July 2026 at Hollywoodbets Kings Park, Durban

In addition to the mascot experience, winners will receive four general access tickets, allowing family and friends to attend the match and cheer on the Springboks from the stands.

The campaign taps into something uniquely South African: the emotional connection between rugby, family and national identity. For young fans, stepping onto the field ahead of a Test match represents more than just a prize. It is a memory that could last a lifetime.

How to Enter

To stand a chance of winning, parents or guardians must complete the official competition entry form and ensure they are registered members of the Spur Family Club.

The competition is open exclusively to South African residents.

Important entry details include:

  • Competition closes at 23:59 on 21 June 2026
  • Parent or guardian entering must be 18 years or older
  • Children entering must be between 8 and 12 years old
  • Travel and accommodation are not included
  • Terms and conditions apply

The partnership between Spur Steak Ranches and the Springboks continues to reinforce the brand’s long-standing connection to South African families, sport and shared experiences around the table.

With anticipation already building around the Springboks’ 2026 fixtures, the competition offers young supporters a rare chance to move from the stands to the centre of the action — standing alongside some of the country’s greatest sporting heroes before thousands of fans and millions watching across the nation.

For many children, it will be far more than a matchday.

It will be the moment they never forget.
