It’s fight week – but before he steps into the octagon, UFC Middleweight World Champion and Mercedes-Benz ambassador, Dricus Du Plessis, is trading in his daily G-Wagon for something a little more modest: a Suzuki Swift. He’s the first brave soul to take on TopGear South Africa’s brand-new series, Star in a Reasonably Priced Car – where celebrities and sports stars swap horsepower for driving technique, and tackle the Formula K kart track in a humble hero of a hatchback, before joining Jason Goliath in studio for a turbocharged interview. The goal? To set the fastest lap and claim glory on the infamous TopGear South Africa celeb leaderboard.

The champ may be known for throwing punches, but be under no illusions – Dricus knows how to handle a curve. With a family background in racing and personal experience on oval tracks, this wasn’t his first time behind the wheel, and it showed. The lap time? Fast enough to keep future celebs sweating.

In this high-octane episode, Dricus gets real about his roots in motorsport, his upcoming title fight, and why South Africans are a force to be reckoned with in the Octagon. He also unpacks what it’s like to balance brutal UFC training with track-day thrills – all with Jason Goliath at the wheel of the banter.

Don’t miss the debut. Subscribe to the TopGear South Africa YouTube Channel, and catch the action as South Africa’s biggest personalities race for the top of the celebrity lapboard.
