Somerset West, August 2025 – The historic Vergelegen Estate has been crowned Best Wine Farm Experience in the prestigious 2025 Best of the Cape Awards, hosted by Kfm 94.5 in partnership with Yoco.

This sought-after award celebrates the Western Cape’s most-loved destinations, as voted for by the public. The category acknowledges wine farms that go beyond exceptional vintages, offering visitors a memorable and all-encompassing experience.

A People-Centred Win

Enviro tours

Vergelegen’s heritage, world-class wines, and warm hospitality captured the hearts of voters. Managing Director Wayne Coetzer expressed his delight:

“We’re on top of the world at this news, especially as it comes directly from the public. Winning this award means so much for the estate – it is an external endorsement that we are fully on track. There is no one better than our customers to tell us how we are doing.

Without a doubt, what differentiates Vergelegen is our people. This award is a feather in the cap of every staff member, each of whom understands service and hospitality.”

Thousands of Votes Cast

The Best of the Cape Awards are among the region’s most popular lifestyle accolades, attracting thousands of nominations across 30 categories. Winners were announced live on 15 August 2025, following a voting period between 30 July and 7 August.

More Than Just Wine

Vergelegen offers visitors a complete lifestyle experience, including:

  • Guided garden, heritage, and cellar tours

  • Picnics beneath its majestic camphor trees

  • Wine tastings at the modern tasting centre

  • Exploring the nature reserve on a guided game drive

This award reaffirms Vergelegen’s reputation as a must-visit destination for wine lovers, history enthusiasts, and nature seekers alike.
