Workshop17 Brings Purposeful Networking to Rosebank With an Evening That Gives Back

What if your next after-work meetup could do more than help you expand your network? What if it could also support a meaningful cause while sparking conversations that inspire new ideas?

That is exactly what Workshop17 is offering with its next Workshop Wednesday, taking place on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, at Workshop17 The Bank in Rosebank. Combining insightful discussion, quality networking, wine, snacks and charitable giving, the event transforms an ordinary midweek evening into an opportunity to connect with people and contribute to something bigger.

For just R50 for Workshop17 members and R100 for non-members, guests will enjoy an engaging speaker session, networking opportunities and refreshments, while knowing that 100% of ticket sales will be donated to Tswalo House.

A Conversation About Spaces That Put People First

This month’s edition, titled Beyond Just the Bricks, explores an increasingly relevant question: What happens when spaces are designed around people instead of simply buildings?

Leading the discussion are Andries Pretorius and Etienne Maritz from Bow&Arc, who are also the co-founders of Volley, Pretoria’s premium student accommodation offering.

The conversation comes at an important time for Workshop17, which is currently partnering with Bow&Arc on Workshop17 Hazelwood in Pretoria. Unlike previous Workshop17 locations that transformed existing buildings, Hazelwood represents the brand’s first purpose-built workspace, designed from the ground up with community and collaboration in mind.

The speakers will explore how people-first thinking influences everything from student accommodation and shared workspaces to mixed-use precincts and social gathering spaces. The discussion aims to unpack what makes environments feel welcoming, functional and genuinely connected.

More Than a Typical Networking Event

Workshop Wednesday is designed to be far more interactive than a traditional presentation.

Rather than sitting through a formal lecture, attendees are encouraged to meet fellow entrepreneurs, creatives, designers, business professionals and curious thinkers while exchanging ideas in a relaxed environment.

Guests can expect:

  • A live discussion with industry experts
  • Wine and delicious snacks
  • Purposeful networking
  • Conversations that continue beyond the formal session
  • An opportunity to support a meaningful community initiative

According to Penelope Meniere, National Marketing Manager at Workshop17, bringing people together remains central to the brand’s philosophy.

“Workshop Wednesdays are built around the kind of conversations that become richer when people are in the same room. They give people a chance to listen, question, meet and be part of something useful. You can’t get that from a YouTube video. This month’s topic speaks directly to the way we think about space at Workshop17, and the evening also carries a bigger purpose. Every ticket sold will support Tswalo House, which makes each seat in the room matter.”

Every Ticket Helps Tswalo House

While networking and learning form the heart of the evening, every attendee also contributes directly to a worthwhile cause.

Workshop17 donates 100% of ticket sales from every Workshop Wednesday event to the speaker’s chosen charity. This month’s beneficiary is Tswalo House, an organisation dedicated to caring for vulnerable babies.

Funds raised from ticket sales will help provide essential items and services, including:

  • Baby formula
  • Nappies
  • Medical check-ups
  • Around-the-clock specialised care

Each booking therefore represents more than admission to an event—it helps provide safety, warmth and support for babies who need it most.

An Affordable Evening With Lasting Impact

Finding an after-work event that combines professional networking, engaging discussion, quality refreshments and charitable giving is rare. Workshop Wednesday delivers all of this while keeping tickets affordable for both members and visitors.

Whether you’re an entrepreneur looking to meet like-minded professionals, a creative interested in community-centred design, or simply someone who enjoys meaningful conversations, the evening offers an opportunity to learn, connect and give back—all in one place.
