Style and aesthetics are emerging as important factors for consumers when they choose their next smartphone, especially among younger users. For Generations Y and Z, a phone is more than a device; it’s an expression of personality, identity and lifestyle and how it looks is nearly as important as how it performs.

That’s the word from Jace Chen, country manager for realme South Africa, who says that younger users want their smartphones to be visually appealing and practical. “The balance between style and functionality is crucial, as it aligns with their dynamic lifestyles and personal values.

“Many younger consumers prioritise smartphone design when making purchase decisions. They are drawn to sleek, modern aesthetics with premium finishes that enhance the perceived quality and desirability of the device. Smartphones today allow them to express individuality through colours, accessories and other aesthetic choices.”

Bold and vibrant colour options resonate particularly well with younger audiences who value uniqueness, adds Chen. The use of premium materials such as glass, metal, and sustainable plastics enhance both feel and visual appeal of smartphones.

In addition to materials innovation, partnerships with popular brands or influencers in the fashion and lifestyle space have helped smartphones tap into the style-conscious mindset of younger demographics. realme, for example, has a design team that draws on creatives with experience in brands like Hermès and Gucci.

“We want to give our customers a feel of luxury, in addition to making smartphones that are powerful under the hood,” says Chen. “Many of our devices have aesthetics that will remind users of premium watches or fashion designs they may see as they browse at the shopping mall.”

The realme C61: where style meets substance

The realme C61 exemplifies the importance of style in the smartphone market, offering a design that appeals to young, style-conscious users without compromising on performance. “The realme C61’s sleek design and robust functionality make it a perfect fit for users who are always on the go,” Chen says.

“Many customers are opting for devices that fit comfortably in their pockets. We have also seen a distinct move towards minimalist design in electronic devices that echoes the trends in fashion and interiors.  Users are embracing streamlined phones that offer a clean, elegant appearance.”

Using advanced design techniques, the C61 captures the classic checkered texture of fabrics with great accuracy. A sparkle finish delivers a blend of premium aesthetics and cutting-edge technology. Built to be tough, reliable and elegant, the realme C61 features anti-drop protection, water splash resistance, and wet touch capability.

realme C61’s back panel is a canvas of intricate textures that play with light and shadow. To achieve this level of detail, realme employs big data programming to fine-tune over 400,000 individual texture shaders. Each shader controls how light is absorbed, reflected, or scattered, creating a beautiful effect.

The luxurious profile of the C61 comes with no compromises to features or performance. Thanks to greater power efficiency, the C61 can make its 5000mAh battery last for two days. Even when you’re down to 1% battery, the C61 can last for up to eight hours on standby.

The realme C61 offers up to 6GB+12GB Dynamic RAM and 128GB of expandable internal storage, enabling fast app launches, effortless multitasking, and efficient background app retention. These specs ensure consistently smooth and responsive performance, whether you’re multitasking, gaming or navigating the interface.

With a 6.74’’ 90Hz Eye Comfort Display, the realme C61 offers a comfortable screen size for every application. Large screen size combines with AI dual light sensors to bring an optimal viewing experience. Other innovations include touchless controls, allowing you to swipe through short videos, social media and more with a wave of a hand.
