The JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge, nestled amidst the breathtaking wilderness of Kenya’s iconic Masai Mara National Reserve, is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative to empower and uplift local girls from Maasai communities. The Lodge’s Apprenticeship Program offers a transformative opportunity for young women to gain comprehensive training in all lodge departments, preparing them for successful careers in the hospitality industry.

The Vision:

The Lodge’s vision for the Apprenticeship Program is to foster gender equality and create a pipeline of skilled female professionals in the hospitality sector. By engaging with the local community, the lodge will aim to provide opportunities for personal and professional growth, ultimately empowering these girls to become leaders within their communities.

Curriculum:

The Apprenticeship Program will span an immersive duration between 6 – 10 months, encompassing hands-on training in every department within the lodge. Participants will rotate through departments such as front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, kitchen, and guest services. By experiencing the breadth of lodge operations, apprentices will gain a holistic understanding of the industry and build a versatile skill set.

Mentorship and Support:

Throughout the program, each apprentice will be paired with a mentor, a seasoned professional from the lodge, who guides and supports them in their learning journey. Regular feedback sessions and performance assessments will help tailor the apprentices’ development, ensuring they receive the best possible preparation for their future careers.

Certification and Career Opportunities:

Upon successful completion of the program, each apprentice will receive a recognized certificate that acknowledges their comprehensive training and competence in the hospitality industry. Armed with their newfound skills and certification, the lodge will continue to actively seek to employ these graduates, ensuring a rewarding career path within the lodge or the broader hospitality sector.
