If you become a member of the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) loyalty programme, you can partake in luxury experiences created for the exclusive benefit of GHA members who stay at Sun International’s luxurious Palace hotel at the Sun City resort.

Nestled in a prehistoric volcanic crater in the North West Province of South Africa, the world-renowned Sun City Resort’s five star Palace hotel screams luxury. But it is also exciting! Guests enjoy easy access to world-class golf courses designed by golfing great Gary Player, exhilarating safaris in the adjacent Pilanesberg National Park, all the fun of the Valley of Waves, and gaming thrills at the Sun City Casino.

GHA members can also explore the heritage and history of the local BaTswana people and the fauna and flora of the region. Head into the wild on a Game Drive in the Pilanesberg National Park where you should keep your eyes peeled for the big five – lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard – as well as Cheetah, wild dogs, hippo, crocodiles, giraffes, zebras and much more. On your three-hour drive, soft drinks and mineral water will be provided to keep you hydrated. Round off your day by embracing the interactive rhythms of Arica with an energetic, fun drumming activity. Use one of the oldest forms of communication known to man when you participate in a drum circle and learn to play the Djembe Drum.

And after a day of drumming and exploring the bush you can unwind at the Royal Retreat in the Palace hotel’s Royal Spa. Take a massage journey with a combination of Hot Stone, Kahuna, Balinese and Indian Head massage techniques. The treatment incorporates the use of the Spa’s signature massage candle to melt away tension and delicately nourish the skin. It is specifically tailored to relax and comfort. Enjoy a complimentary glass of sparkling wine after the spa treatment.

The elegantly appointed Royal Spa was 2024’s recipient prestigious International Haute Grandeur Global Spa Award. The wellness sanctuary was recognised in two separate categories – Best Hotel Spa and Best Spa Design in South Africa.

Benefits of joining the GHA loyalty programme

The GHA represents the world’s largest alliance of independent luxury hotel brands, with a selection of 40 premium hospitality brands and boasting 800 hotels in 100 countries. Worldwide membership grew to 25 million in 2023 and you too can join the programme if you visit a Sun International hotel.

An immediate benefit for all members, in addition to exclusive offers at all GHA hotels, is a 10% discount on the best available rates at all Sun International and GHA partner hotels, regardless of the membership tier. On check in, members on the lowest tier can get a further 4% back on their stay, rising to 7% for the highest tier along with additional benefits such as room upgrades and early check-in or late checkout.

Sun International joined the programme in 2022, expanding the choice of hotels across the African continent to 57 hotels with 7 364 rooms. Since 2019, the programme experienced a 79% hike in African membership.
