Johannesburg, South Africa – July 2026 – Business events in Sandton have received a significant boost as NH Johannesburg Sandton, owned by The Cavaleros Group and managed by NH Hotels & Resorts, has completed the first phase of a major renovation aimed at enhancing its meetings and events facilities.
The upgrade strengthens the hotel’s position as one of Sandton’s leading destinations for conferences, business meetings and corporate events, while introducing modern spaces designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s event organisers.

A modern transformation for business events
The first phase of the renovation began in April 2026 and focused on a complete refurbishment of the hotel’s impressive 800-seater Ballroom together with its 10 dedicated meeting rooms.
The newly transformed spaces now feature contemporary interiors, greater flexibility and state-of-the-art audiovisual and conferencing support. These enhancements have been designed to better serve corporate clients and the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) market in one of Africa’s busiest commercial hubs.
By combining modern design with advanced event technology, the hotel is creating an environment that supports everything from executive meetings to large-scale conferences and social celebrations.
Operations continued without interruption
One of the key achievements of the project was completing the refurbishment while keeping the hotel fully operational.
Using a carefully planned phased approach, NH Johannesburg Sandton ensured minimal disruption to guests, business travellers and event organisers throughout the renovation period.
Guest accommodation, wellness facilities and dining outlets remained open during construction.
The hotel also continued hosting meetings and events by making alternative venues within the property available. These flexible spaces offered integrated audiovisual technology, customised catering solutions and access to 350 on-site parking bays, allowing the hotel to successfully accommodate conferences, corporate functions and social events without compromising the guest experience.
Throughout every stage of the refurbishment, hotel management maintained ongoing communication with stakeholders, keeping clients and partners informed of the project’s progress.
Future-ready facilities now open
Following the successful completion of the refurbishment in June 2026, the redesigned ballroom and meeting spaces are now welcoming guests.
The refreshed facilities combine elegant contemporary aesthetics with improved functionality and integrated digital infrastructure, creating versatile venues suited to a wide variety of business and social occasions.
The upgrade reflects the changing expectations of today’s event planners, who increasingly require adaptable venues supported by modern technology and seamless event services.
More improvements on the way
The conference facilities mark only the beginning of a broader transformation at NH Johannesburg Sandton.
The hotel has confirmed that additional upgrades will include the refurbishment of its 329 guestrooms as part of its long-term strategy to continuously enhance the overall guest experience.
While maintaining their spacious layouts, the upgraded rooms will introduce refreshed interiors, improved in-room technology and sophisticated finishes aligned with the premium standards of the NH Hotels & Resorts brand.
A continued investment in Sandton’s business tourism
According to Don Jesseman, General Manager of NH Johannesburg Sandton, the refurbishment demonstrates the hotel’s ongoing commitment to remaining one of the region’s preferred venues for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.
He noted that demand for high-quality and versatile event venues continues to grow, making it essential for the hotel to evolve its facilities to meet the expectations of modern organisers.
With its newly upgraded event spaces already open and additional renovations planned for the months ahead, NH Johannesburg Sandton continues investing in a future-focused hospitality experience that supports both business and leisure travellers in South Africa’s commercial capital.
