Sport will play a major role in Qatar’s upcoming events programme.
Formula 1 will return to Lusail International Circuit, while the FIFA U-17 World Cup will bring international football to the country.
Major tennis and padel championships will also feature, attracting leading athletes and spectators.
But Qatar’s calendar does not stop at the sporting arena.
The cultural programme will include Art Basel Qatar, alongside exhibitions, concerts, festivals, entertainment and food experiences.
That mix creates an opportunity for travellers to build an itinerary around their interests instead of simply attending one event and leaving.
One Trip, Many Experiences
Qatar’s compact geography is central to that proposition.
Visitors travelling for a sporting event can also explore Doha’s museums and galleries, experience the city’s dining scene or head beyond the urban landscape into the desert.
The result is a destination where an event can become part of a much bigger trip.
As Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi, Chief Executive Officer of Visit Qatar, explains:

The 2026/2027 calendar reflects that approach by connecting major international occasions with Qatar’s museums, galleries, restaurants, coastline and desert landscapes.
The Events Are Moving Beyond Doha
While Doha remains the main entry point for many visitors, Qatar’s events programme is also encouraging travellers to look further afield.
For the first time, the Qatar International Food Festival will take place in Lusail City.
Further north, Al Shamal will draw on its maritime heritage, while Brouq will showcase its distinctive natural landscape.
Meanwhile, Doha Outdoors will highlight outdoor activities during the cooler months.
Together, these events provide additional reasons to explore different parts of the country rather than keeping an itinerary focused solely on the capital.
Winter Is Where Qatar Comes Alive Outdoors
Qatar’s winter season is expected to be particularly active.
With more moderate temperatures, visitors can experience the country’s beaches, desert camps, terraces, sporting venues and open-air entertainment.
The calendar brings these experiences together with international sport, live entertainment, family activities, cultural events and food.
That means one stay could include a championship, a visit to a cultural institution, a desert excursion and a food festival.
The events become the thread connecting different sides of Qatar.
Qatar Is Making Event Planning More Digital
The country’s event offering is also being supported by a growing digital ecosystem.
Qatar Calendar brings together events across Visit Qatar’s digital platforms, giving visitors a central way to discover what’s happening and plan their itineraries before travelling.
The Visit Qatar app surpassed 230,000 users in 2026, compared with approximately 105,000 in 2025.
A new widget, initially available to Apple users, provides direct access to upcoming events without requiring users to open the full application.
And there is more on the way.
A unified digital ticketing platform is scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the aim of simplifying event discovery and access to tickets.
More Than 560 Reasons to Look Again
With more than 560 events scheduled across 2026 and 2027, Qatar’s calendar presents something broader than a list of dates.
It brings together sport, culture, entertainment, food and outdoor experiences across the country.
For travellers, that means a Formula 1 weekend can extend into a wider Doha experience. A football tournament can become an opportunity to discover museums and galleries. A food festival can lead to exploring Lusail. A winter visit can stretch from the city to the coastline and desert.
