In a city that rarely slows down, finding a place to truly switch off can feel like a luxury in itself. At SEVEN Hotel, Villas & Spa in Sandton, that idea is now at the heart of a newly reimagined guest experience.

The five-star property, part of The Capital Hotels Group, has completed a refurbishment worth more than R18 million across all 61 rooms and villa suites. The transformation spans the accommodation offering, from Grand Luxe rooms to the Presidential Villa Suite.

But this relaunch is about more than refreshed interiors. SEVEN is building its identity around a simple idea: a memorable hotel stay should be felt through every sense, leaving guests feeling composed, refreshed and more like themselves.

Set on Helen Road in Strathavon, the property offers a leafy retreat close to Sandton’s business district. It is seven minutes from Grayston Drive and two kilometres from the Gautrain, placing guests within reach of the city while offering a quieter setting away from its constant movement.

A luxury experience shaped by the senses

At SEVEN, the surroundings are designed to make an impression without demanding attention. Private gardens, mature trees, trickling water and a curated collection of art and sculptures create a setting that feels removed from the surrounding city.

The approach extends into the villa suites, where darkness and quiet are carefully considered. Staff are attentive when needed, while recognising that personal space and privacy are equally important.

It is a thoughtful approach to hospitality, where the experience is shaped as much by what guests notice as by what they no longer need to think about.

Sight: A green escape in the city

Step through the gates and the atmosphere changes. Secluded greenery, mature trees, stone and carefully curated artworks replace the glass towers and traffic often associated with Sandton.

The gardens and sculptures frame the views, creating a calmer environment for guests who want a moment away from the city’s demands.

Sound: The luxury of quiet

Water trickles through the gardens during the day. In the villa suites, the emphasis shifts to quiet, including during the early morning hours.

In a busy business district, a peaceful night’s rest and a calm start to the day can make a meaningful difference to a stay.

At SEVEN, quiet is treated as an essential part of the experience rather than an afterthought.

Smell: An atmosphere that invites you to unwind

Morning air carries the scent of cut grass and seasonal blooms through the grounds.

As evening arrives, the atmosphere moves towards the warmth of Poison Ivy lounge and the stillness of Spa by Camelot. Both offer guests a setting in which to step away from the pace of the city.

The emphasis is on creating an environment that feels private, relaxed and distinct from the world outside.

Taste and touch: Where the details come together

At the centre of the dining experience is Textures, the hotel’s restaurant, whose name reflects the qualities shared by taste and touch.

The kitchen focuses on fresh ingredients and uncomplicated, exquisite dishes. The restaurant serves guests from 06:30 to 22:30, with tables available beneath the stars.

Private dining is also available for those seeking a more personal setting.

For some visitors, Textures provides their first introduction to SEVEN. They arrive for a meal and return for a room, extending the experience beyond the restaurant.

Touch is equally important throughout the property. Redesigned villas and Jacuzzi Villa Suites provide spaces to unwind, while Poison Ivy offers leather interiors and low lighting for evenings centred on champagne, cognac and cigars.

Together, these details reinforce the hotel’s focus on comfort, atmosphere and considered design.

Beyond five senses: A feeling of being yourself

SEVEN’s concept does not stop at sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. It also considers instinct, described as the sixth sense, and the sense of self as the seventh.

Instinct, the hotel suggests, develops when the first five senses are consistently considered. Guests no longer need to assess every detail around them and can begin to relax into their surroundings.

The seventh sense is more personal: feeling composed and entirely yourself in a city that often demands a particular version of you.

It is this sense of self that anchors the property’s renewed identity.

“Composure is the new premium”

Marc Wachsberger, founder and CEO of The Capital Hotels, says the reimagining responds to the demands placed on people who spend time in Sandton.

“Sandton asks a great deal of the people who move through it,” Wachsberger says. “We reimagined SEVEN so that it gives something back.”

He explains that the hotel aims to serve different needs, whether an executive staying for two nights needs to remain sharp or a couple from the neighbourhood wants a villa suite close to home.

“We want you to leave feeling composed and more like yourself than when you arrived,” he says. “Composure is the new premium.”

The message places the guest’s experience at the centre of the refurbishment. Luxury, in this context, is not about making a statement. It is about creating the conditions for people to feel comfortable, rested and present.

More than a place to stay

Beyond its accommodation and dining offering, SEVEN Hotel, Villas & Spa is pet friendly and provides conference and event facilities. The property also hosts weddings, extending its offering to business gatherings and personal celebrations.

Room service operates 24 hours a day from Tuesday to Saturday.

These facilities allow the property to accommodate different occasions, from business trips and meetings to romantic escapes, celebrations and dining experiences.

Its location offers access to Sandton while the gardens, villa suites and wellness spaces provide a quieter alternative to the city’s fast-moving environment.

Discover a different side of Sandton

With more than R18 million invested in the refurbishment of all 61 rooms and villa suites, SEVEN Hotel, Villas & Spa is placing a renewed emphasis on the details that shape how a stay feels.

The setting, sound, dining, design and service all contribute to a broader idea of luxury: one that gives guests room to breathe rather than another reason to perform.

For those seeking a hotel experience that balances access to Sandton with a sense of privacy and calm, SEVEN invites guests to rediscover what it means to come away feeling refreshed.

Come to your senses at SEVEN. Luxury with nothing to prove.
