Some moments in football never fade. They live on in the memories of supporters, inspire future generations and become part of the sport’s history. For David Beckham and adidas Predator, one such moment came on 6 October 2001.
Now, 25 years after that unforgettable strike against Greece, adidas is celebrating the occasion with the David Beckham Predator, a special-edition football boot co-designed with the former England captain. The release honours a moment that secured England’s qualification for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and strengthened Beckham’s place among football’s most iconic clutch performers.
Announced in South Africa on 9 October 2026, the new boot brings together football heritage, premium craftsmanship and modern performance innovation.
A free kick that became football history
Beckham’s free kick against Greece remains one of the most memorable goals in Predator history. Its significance extended beyond the scoreline, with the strike securing England’s place at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
The moment also became a defining chapter in the story of the Predator franchise, which has been associated with Beckham’s legacy and the precision, confidence and control that characterise his playing style.
The new David Beckham Predator draws directly from the football boot colourway worn during that historic match. Its clean white and red design recalls the original look while introducing refined details that connect the past with the present.
Heritage meets modern performance
The David Beckham Predator takes inspiration from adidas’ Predator Elite FT L-Tech concept, which combines traditional leather craftsmanship with modern performance innovation.
A premium leather forefoot delivers the soft touch and comfort associated with classic leather football boots. At the same time, the design retains the lightweight support and performance technologies of the modern Predator.
The signature fold-over tongue returns as another defining feature. Finished in rich red leather, it adds a premium touch while reinforcing the boot’s connection to the original design.
The result is a special edition that celebrates football history through carefully considered details and contemporary performance features.
The Trefoil makes a distinctive return
One of the most notable elements of the new David Beckham Predator is the Trefoil logo.
The symbol appears for only the second time in Predator history. It first featured on Beckham’s debut special-edition Predator release in 2024, which sold out within 24 hours.
Its return strengthens the connection between adidas Originals heritage and one of football’s most recognisable boot franchises.
The Trefoil influence also extends across the boot’s design. Both the lateral and medial Three Stripes feature repeated Trefoil branding, creating a subtle premium detail.
Beckham branding appears on the lateral heel, while a Trefoil logo is embroidered onto the fold-over tongue. Together, these personalised touches highlight the relationship between Beckham, adidas Originals and the Predator legacy.
adidas honours a defining Predator moment
Sam Handy, General Manager of adidas Football, highlighted the importance of Beckham’s free kick and its lasting connection to the Predator franchise.
“Few moments in football history capture the spirit of Predator quite like David Beckham’s free kick against Greece,” Handy said.
He explained that the moment showcased the precision, confidence and control that have defined Beckham’s legacy and the Predator franchise for more than three decades.
Handy added that adidas wanted the special-edition release to honour that moment through a design combining authentic football heritage, premium craftsmanship and modern performance innovation.
Predator Precision Remade brings the original look back
The celebration extends beyond the new David Beckham Predator.
adidas is also introducing the Predator Precision Remade, a reimagined version of the Predator Precision Beckham wore on 6 October 2001.
Returning in the instantly recognisable white and red colourway associated with his famous free kick, the remade boot gives a new generation of players and collectors the opportunity to own a piece of Predator history.
Together, the two releases celebrate the same defining moment through different interpretations of the boot that became part of football folklore.
