Babylonstoren Blooms in Joburg

Johannesburg is getting a colourful taste of the Cape Winelands this spring as Babylonstoren brings its distinctive garden-inspired world to Hyde Park Corner.

From 2 to 14 September 2026, shoppers can experience Babylonstoren in Bloom in Centre Court as part of Hyde Park Corner’s Made for the Season campaign.

For 13 days, the celebrated Winelands farm will bring its love of gardens, design and seasonal beauty into the heart of Johannesburg.

And this is more than a floral display.

Visitors will be able to explore, smell, sample and shop a selection of Babylonstoren-inspired products, giving Joburg a chance to experience a little of the farm without leaving the city.

A first for Babylonstoren

The installation marks Babylonstoren’s first activation of this kind in a shopping centre.

At the centre of the experience is an installation inspired by Babylonstoren’s famous Puff Adder walkway.

The result is a smaller-scale interpretation of one of the farm’s most recognisable garden spaces, designed to bring its distinctive character into Johannesburg.

The original Puff Adder is a 70-metre walkway that follows the banks of a stream beneath a dome-shaped lattice structure.

Its planting changes with the seasons, creating a constantly evolving garden experience.

In spring, clivias take centre stage.

They follow the winter aloes and appear before the roses, berries and bonsai that arrive in summer.

That seasonal rhythm has helped inspire the Hyde Park Corner installation.

Clivias take centre stage

Spring gets an extra burst of colour at Centre Court with a display of clivias running alongside the Babylonstoren installation.

One flower, in particular, is expected to attract attention.

The display includes The Hyde Park Double, described as the first double clivia in South Africa.

It was grown and bred by independent Clivia grower André Swart.

The choice of clivias also has a natural connection to Babylonstoren.

At the farm, clivias are one of the garden’s much-anticipated spring highlights. They also form part of the seasonal planting along the original Puff Adder walkway.

It means the Johannesburg installation is not simply inspired by the look of Babylonstoren.

It draws directly from the seasonal character of one of the farm’s signature garden spaces.

From the garden to your home

The experience also extends beyond the flowers.

Throughout the activation, visitors will be able to sample and purchase a selection of Babylonstoren products.

The collection includes:

  • Bath and body products
  • Home fragrance
  • Linen
  • Décor
  • Honey
  • Pantry favourites
  • Wine
  • Gift items

Many of these products draw directly from the farm and its gardens.

Several are made using ingredients and materials grown or created at Babylonstoren.

That gives visitors the opportunity to take a piece of the farm-inspired experience home with them.

Spring arrives across Hyde Park Corner

Babylonstoren in Bloom forms part of a wider September programme at Hyde Park Corner.

The centre is using its Made for the Season campaign to spotlight new arrivals and seasonal collections across fashion, fragrance, swimwear and homeware.

South African lifestyle brand Freedom of Movement opens at Hyde Park Corner on 3 September, bringing footwear, apparel, bags and accessories to the centre.

There is also a new jewellery arrival.

RedLine Paris South Africa opens on 1 September, marking the contemporary fine jewellery brand’s first boutique in Africa.

The brand is known for minimalist pieces designed to be worn, layered and collected. Its Johannesburg arrival follows expansion across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the United States.

More to discover

The spring refresh continues across the centre.

At Moss, the Mii à Table collection brings garden-inspired detail to the table.

At La Corset, shoppers can discover the latest Pain de Sucre swimwear ahead of warmer days.

Meanwhile, Avenue 2A, the exclusive South African stockist of Brunello Cucinelli fragrance, is showcasing the Italian fashion house’s fragrance collection.

Together, the new arrivals give Made for the Season a broad spring focus, with something to discover across fashion, jewellery, beauty, fragrance and home.

A little Winelands magic in Johannesburg

For Hyde Park Corner, Babylonstoren in Bloom is about bringing the atmosphere of a much-loved destination into an unexpected urban setting.

“Babylonstoren has such a distinctive sense of place that people recognise immediately, whether through its gardens, its food or the beautiful products that come from the farm,” says Tevye Block, General Manager of Hyde Park Corner.

“Bringing a taste of that experience to Johannesburg gives our customers something genuinely special to discover at Hyde Park Corner this spring.”

The activation also reflects the wider idea behind Made for the Season.

As Johannesburg moves into spring, Hyde Park Corner is inviting shoppers to discover what is new, explore the seasonal collections and enjoy the experiences taking place throughout the centre.

For 13 days, one of the Cape Winelands’ most recognisable garden experiences will have a Johannesburg address.

Babylonstoren in Bloom at Made for the Season at Hyde Park Corner runs in Centre Court from 2 to 14 September 2026 during normal Hyde Park Corner trading hours.
