On Monday 10 March, volunteers from Boardwalk joined staff and the principal of Walmer Primary School to pack lunches for 1 403 children. Each child received a pack consisting of a sandwich, fruit, juice and a packet of potato chips. Boardwalk General Manager Tati Tsunke said, “Rising costs create challenges for many families in our neighbourhood, and food insecurity is a real threat for them. Walmer Primary School is part of our community, so we worked with the school to give the children a nutritious meal, but we also wanted to surprise the scholars and it was delightful to see the smiles on their faces when they realised the tasty lunchtime treats were for them.”
