Clearwater Mall Turns the Christmas Countdown into a Celebration of Joy, Giving and Family

As the festive calendar speeds toward Christmas Day and the familiar rush of last-minute shopping sets in, Clearwater Mall is doing something refreshingly different. Instead of adding to the pressure, the West Rand favourite is slowing things down — turning the final days before Christmas into a season of joy, creativity and meaningful connection for the whole family.

With extended trading hours, immersive children’s activities, festive photo moments and community-driven initiatives, Clearwater Mall has positioned itself as more than a shopping destination. It has become a place where the countdown to Christmas feels lighter, warmer and genuinely festive.

More Time, Less Stress

Understanding the realities of December schedules, Clearwater Mall has extended its trading hours until 23 December, allowing shoppers to enjoy the festive atmosphere without racing the clock. From 9am to 9pm, families have the flexibility to shop, dine and explore at a relaxed pace, with adjusted hours continuing through to the end of the year.

The extended hours are designed to give shoppers breathing room — a chance to enjoy the season rather than simply survive it.

A Christmas Tree That Gives Back

At the heart of the mall’s festive décor stands a striking Disney-inspired Christmas tree in the Piazza, created in support of Reach For A Dream. More than just a visual centrepiece, the towering tree carries a powerful message of hope and generosity.

Every plush toy displayed on the tree will be donated to children facing life-threatening illnesses, offering comfort and joy during an incredibly difficult time. Shoppers can support the initiative by donating R50 via QR code, visiting the Reach For A Dream website, or engaging directly with the in-mall activation.

The initiative is supported by PEP, FNB, Lego and Toys R Us, reinforcing the spirit of collaboration and compassion that defines the season.

“Christmas is about connection, generosity and shared experiences,” says Prianka Singh Rodgers, Marketing Manager of Clearwater Mall. “This year, we wanted to create a festive programme that brings families together, supports important causes and makes the final shopping days feel enjoyable rather than stressful.”

Where Children’s Creativity Takes Centre Stage

This festive season, Clearwater Mall places children firmly in the spotlight with a series of bookable Disney-inspired creative workshops designed to delight, inspire and entertain.

At Stitch’s Island Workshop in the Creative Corner, parents can book dedicated time slots for their children, ensuring a calm, well-managed experience. Activities include a Lilo and Stitch-themed bauble collection, where children decorate their own ornaments using ribbons, glitter, gems, beads and stickers — personalised keepsakes ready to hang on Christmas trees at home.

Young creatives can also enjoy an island-style paint and sip session, learning gradient painting techniques before adding Stitch cut-outs to complete their tropical masterpieces. For a festive twist, Stitch-inspired snow jars invite kids to build their own sparkling creations using DIY kits filled with iridescent snow, glitter, pom-poms and themed stickers.

All activities are subject to stock availability, with bookings available via Webtickets.

Capturing the Magic with Santa

No festive season is complete without a visit from Santa, and Clearwater Mall delivers with daily photos with Santa until 24 December. Located at Edgars Court on the lower level, the experience offers professionally taken photographs at affordable prices, giving families a treasured keepsake of the season.

Wrapping Gifts — and Giving Back

To further ease the festive load, Clearwater Mall has partnered with the Helderkruin Lions to offer complimentary gift wrapping until 24 December at selected entrances. Shoppers are encouraged to make a donation, with all proceeds supporting the Lions’ vital community work.

It’s a thoughtful reminder that even small gestures during the festive rush can have a meaningful impact.

A Festive Destination That Has It All

From gift guides and competitions to gift cards and a festive social media giveaway featuring a 1.2-metre Stitch plush toy, Clearwater Mall seamlessly blends shopping, entertainment and generosity into one joyful destination.

“As the year draws to a close, we want shoppers to know they can find everything they need right here,” Singh Rodgers adds. “It’s about ending the festive season on a high note, with experiences that matter.”
