Exciting changes to kykNET and kykNET&kie’s Sunday line-up in July

A few exciting changes and new shows will provide Premium subscribers with a wider selection of Afrikaans programmes to enjoy in every time slot, starting from 2 July – on both kykNET (DStv Channel 144) and kykNET&kie (DStv Channel 145).

eNuus will move to 18:30 from 2 July on Sundays on both channels but will stay at 19:00 for the rest of the week (Mondays to Saturdays). Bravo! will move to 18:00 and Kwêla to 19:00 Sundays on kykNET.

Koortjies met Jonathan Rubain on kykNET&kie is moving from 18:00 to 17:30 followed by eNuus at 18:30 (only on Sundays). The magazine programme Klop! will go out at 19:00.

kykNET’s current-affairs programme Prontuit (Tuesdays at 21:00) is taking a break from 4 July. A brand-new programme, Laataand by Rian, with Rian van Heerden interviewing newsworthy and interesting people over dinner will fill this slot, starting on the 4th of July. Prontuit returns on the 3rd of October.

“Schedules should serve viewers by adapting to their needs,” says Waldimar Pelser, M-Net Director for Premium channels. “Sunday evening is the one evening of the week when a news bulletin in an earlier time slot makes sense for many of our viewers. After the news at 19:00, Kwêla follows in the strongest time slot this popular programme has ever had. At the same time, Premium subscribers now have a choice between Kwêla on kykNET and the current affairs programme Carte Blanche on M-Net (DStv Channel 101) at 19:00. Both programmes are also available on Catch Up for viewers who cannot tune in live.”

Pelser adds: “We are also very excited to welcome back the fearless Rian van Heerden as the host of a primetime talk show on kykNET. Late Night with Rian will have tongues wagging!”

kykNET’s eNuus has been keeping viewers up to date with local and international news for the past 13 years, and the SAFTA-winning Kwêla, one of the channel’s oldest programmes, has been offering weekly inspiration since November 1999. With presenter Hannes van Wyk at the helm, the programme tells the remarkable stories of remarkable people.

July won’t be any different, with Hannes getting to know the tennis star John-Laffnie de Jager, netball ace Shadine van der Merwe and Protea cricketer Rassie van der Dussen. There is also a visit to the Hout Bay Seal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (HSBRC).

Bravo!, another SAFTA award winner, has been part of the kykNET family since 2012. Marciel Hopkins, who recently joined as one of the presenters, and her co-presenters Ewan Strydom and Reynardt Slabbert, visit many a red carpet, bringing viewers up close to a big variety of South African celebrities.

In July, the actress and presenter Leandie du Randt and the former Protea netball player Vanes-Mari du Toit will be guests on the programme. There will also be a look behind the scenes of at the new drama series, Hartklop, and the braai cook-off show Kokkedoor vuur en vlam.

The fourth season of the heart-warming gospel show Koortjies met Jonathan Rubain starts on 2 July at 17:30, and some of Jonathan’s guests include the former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers, actress Marisa Drummond and gospel singer Trevor Malgas.

KLOP! has been kykNET&kie’s magazine programme with a focus on the coloured community since 2016. The show tells feel-good stories and shines a light on local heroes and serious topics with a healthy dose of humour. The presenter is Heindrich Wyngaard, with Lyntjie Jaars joining him as co-presenter from the 2nd of July.
